“You okay?” Robby asked, concern lacing his voice, all of this attention now on Jack.
“Yeah, yeah. It’s—fuck this is dumb.” Jack mentally braced himself. “So you’re on Grindr, right?”
“...Yes,” Robby answered hesitantly, his brow furrowing in confusion. “And I know you know that, so…” He trailed off and raised his eyebrows, questioning.
Jack did some quick mental math on how to have this conversation without humiliating himself and came up empty, so he took the direct approach. “How would you advise an older bi guy who’s new to the whole ‘sex with men’ scene?”
Jack comes to Robby for help, but things don’t go as planned for either of them.

Summary
When Robby ambled in a little early for his shift, central was a hive of activity, Walsh calling back to Jack as she accompanied a gurney out of Trauma 2: "Learn from the master, soldier boy."
"When you find one, be sure to let me know, princess," he shot right back, but the note of fondness in his tone made Robby freeze. That wasn't their usual back-and-forth. That held warmth to it. An undercurrent of knowing. A joke shared between two people who'd seen each other naked. More than once.
Robby clocked Jack watching Walsh go—what the fuck—and then he went back into Trauma 2, debriefing with the team. It was the tiniest moment, nothing—
And yet Robby's whole understanding had just realigned. Jack and Walsh. What the fuck.

Megan turns on her heels to stand in front of Jake, blocking his way. "Ever since you've started being pissed at your sort-of-not-really-stepdad, your sort-of-not-really-stepdad has been really pouty, and when your sort-of-not-really-stepdad gets all pouty, my actual-real-dad gets upset too, and when my actual-real-dad gets upset, he's not likely to let me go to the lake house. So I need you to fix your sort-of-not-really-stepdad."
What the fuck.
"What the fuck, Meg."
"Look, I don't like this any more than you do. You think I want to spend my time worrying about some loser's relationship with his whatever Robby is to you?"
"Thanks, Meg."

Summary
Jack grabs for Robby’s wrist, stopping him mid-sentence, staring up at him. “Mike. You gotta tell me what the fuck is going on here.”
Robby finally stops moving, stops talking, stops fussing, stops fixing, and sinks down onto the bed next to Jack with a soft sigh. His hands come to rest on his knees, and Jack can see the moment he allows his shoulders to relax, facing forward, pointedly not looking at Jack.
“You wanted to get on the same page. I… I want that too. I don’t fully know what that looks like, or what it’ll mean, or how things will change, but I know how to do this, this part, I’m good at this part.”

Summary
Jack was poised for a beautiful three-pointer when Jake spoke, "So, hey, what's it feel like to get fucked?"
The surprise of it scattered his focus for an instant, but figuring that was what Jake wanted, Jack let muscle memory pull him through, releasing the basketball—and getting nothing but net, fuck yeah.
Then he looked over at Jake and tipped his head, nonchalant. "Vulnerable."

Summary
They aren’t his family, not in the traditional sense. But the idea that they might be, that they could be, unsettles him more than he wants to admit. It’s the same quiet dread that hit him when Collins said he had helped raise Amy. He doesn’t know why exactly. Maybe because imagining them as a family implies imagining him and Jack as something. And that’s just absurd, right?
Or: Robby has been a quiet constant in the lives of Abbot and his daughter, filling a space that was never clearly named. As they drift into their fifties, he begins to recognize that his feelings for Jack may have deepened into something real and perhaps impossible. Now he’s left wondering if this almost-family could ever truly be his.

Summary
Lifting himself just enough to be heard, Robby shook his head. “It’s not like that, Jack. No evidence needed.”
“It sure as hell looks like it’s like that,” Jack said, his anger bleeding through despite his best effort to keep himself in check.
Robby looked directly at Jack for the first time since Jack had arrived. His eyes held a mix of shame and pain, and Jack was furious at the thought that somehow Robby thought he had to excuse the person who’d done this to him. But before Jack could say as much, Robby rocked him to his core by saying, “I asked for this.”

Summary
"Another half hour after that, Robby and Abbot arrived, both dressed appallingly heterosexually. Trinity wasn’t entirely sure they’d grasped the concept of a pride party. Still, Abbot came bearing more ice and Robby seemed to be shrinking in on himself in an effort to not look like her boss, so Trinity just rolled her eyes and gestured them inside."
...
Abbot and Robby are now in an established relationship...but what kind? As they take the next steps as a couple (braving the terrifying worlds of HR paperwork and pride festivities, among other things) Robby and Abbot are forced to grapple with what their evolving relationship means to them and their identities.

Summary
It's eight months since Pittfest, and Jack has been talked into being on call for day shift, by the sneakiest, and most unscrupulous argument Gloria could have made.
It's for Robby.
Naturally, that means Jack caves instantly.
So after his shift, Jack heads for the on-call room to catch a nap, only to find Robby there, killing time and pissed off over being forced to use some of his long overdue PTO. As Jack banters with his best friend, trying to maintain the illusion that friendship was all he felt, Robby says something that could change everything.
Before Jack can say a word, Robby bolts, and Jack is left reeling.
