Summary

As much as I loved the finale it did not have to be like that. So heres my fix it...
Robin feels Steve’s hand in hers, realises there are tears in his eyes.
‘Come on, kid. Just step forward. It doesn’t have to be like this, step forward.’And if in slow motion, as if El can hear him, she does. One foot, then the other, and she’s out.
Vickie leans into Robin’s hand, her own grip around Robin’s waist slackening so she can slip a thumb under her shirt and rub a circle on Robin’s hip.
They're safe. They're all, finally, safe.

Two years ago, for four months straight, Robin had waited for her parents to fall asleep every night, and snuck out the window, biking on shaking legs to Steve Harrington’s house because he was the only person who made her feel like the world was whole again. Like the Russians were really, truly gone, not hiding in the shadows to drag her into some dark room and throw punches until she didn’t recognize her own reflection. And somehow still, even with the end of the world literally barreling towards them all, she still was the most worried about losing Vickie. The only girl who had ever cared about Robin as much as Robin cared for her.
"So, what?” Robin cracked a shaky smile. “You want me to talk to some shrink?"

"Robin!" Vickie rattled the handle, no longer trying to hide the anger in her voice. "If you're in there, open right now, because I swear to God, otherwise I'm ending things right-."
But then the door finally swung open. Only it wasn't Robin standing behind it.
In front of Vickie stood a middle-aged, bearded man with a bald head, glasses, and a shirt splattered with blood.Vickie would have liked to tell herself that this was the weird thing – that this disheveled and visibly bruised man, whom Robin had never mentioned, opening the door to the radio station, was the reason her breath hitched. Unfortunately, the situation was even stranger than that.
Because the man was holding a revolver and pointing it directly at Vickie.

After Robin stands her up again, Vickie has had enough. That's why she decides to go to the radio station and get the explanation she deserves.

There’s a flush of color in Vickie’s cheeks, spreading down her neck. And all Robin can think is that her face is the same color as the raspberry popsicle she’d been obsessed with three summers ago. It had stained everything—her clothes, her mouth, her fingers—sticky and sweet and impossible to forget. Even when her mom yelled at her and hosed her down before she could leave red footprints all over their trailer, all she could taste was that summer—that raspberry zing on her tongue.
She deliriously wonders if Vickie would taste just as sweet.
“Oh my god,” Steve mumbles, half-laughing, half-mortified.
