“Okay, we get the Exy obsession, because you’re legitimately planning on going pro, and we get the Kevin obsession because he’s dedicated to teaching you to go pro, and we even get the Minyard obsession,” Dan says.
“Shh,” Neil pleads desperately, hoping beyond hope that nobody heard that.
“But the podcast has nothing to do with Exy! It’s half about music, and you don’t even like music that much,” Dan says. “It’s literally just music and a really weird guy talking about his homicidal impulses, and it sorta sounds like a joke, but on a much more real level it sounds like it’s absolutely not a joke and I would call the authorities if this guy gave any personal details at all,” Dan says.
“It’s mostly a joke,” Neil offers, but it sounds weak to his own ears.

These are all certain. They’re set in stone within his Munson Doctrine and there was absolutely nothing that could refute it. Come Hell or high water, these truths are what keeps the world spinning. What keeps it the way it is. And nothing could ever change that.
Cue: Russian secret codes and a monster made of human goop. Oh and Steve Harrington, because he fits into all of this somehow.

Eddie smiles. It sends warning bells ringing in the back of Steve’s head. “I think I might be a fucking vampire.”

Steve has heard about this. In fact, Dustin would not shut up about it a few days ago, when Steve had picked him up from a D&D session at the Wheeler’s – "Eddie says he got a motorcycle, which is so badass, I wonder what it looks like, why aren’t you that badass, Steve," etcetera. And since then it's been popping up in conversations everywhere, all these offhand comments about how loud or fast or cool or stupid it is, depending on the source. He'd acted disinterested. He was disinterested.
Now he sees it for himself, sees Eddie leaning over it with one boot planted firmly on the ground, lifting up a pair of goggles to squint towards the storefront, and, well. Steve's always known he’s been lying to himself – about a lot of things, actually – but now he really feels ridiculous.
