Stiles wrenched his hand free and took a step back, but before he could even think up a gameplan, he felt a prick in his neck and jerked away, reaching up to slap one hand against it and twisting in the same moment.
One of the others had come up behind him while he hadn’t been paying attention, and his vision began to swim even as his eyes caught sight of the half-empty syringe the guy was holding.

He looked down at his hands holding the fine crystal glass, observing the gold inlaid for the first time. He never held such fine dinnerware before, even at weddings—and Stiles used this daily. He gently placed the crystal down. “I am far beneath you.”
Stiles’ face pinched up in revulsion at such words. “That’s not true.”
“You’re the Duke of Beacon, and I am a recently appointed mine baron,” Derek tiredly answered. “My hands will never be clean enough for you.”
