Summary
This was supposed to be normal. Romantic.
Will drove over to Mike's college after finishing his finals to surprise him right before winter break. Everything was perfect, until Mike receives a phone call from his mother informing him of a family emergency. The two decide to set off for a 678 mile road trip back to Hawkins, coming all the way from Philadelphia.
What they expected was a smooth trip. Though, the universe had malevolent plans.

Finally— a summer break. After completing their third semesters in college, the gang was back in town to visit their friends and families. They decided to blow off some steam at a local bowling alley in Hawkins, for good time's sake.
Mike found himself keeping a close eye on his best friend. Will thought he would be able to keep himself together from Mike. Perhaps it was nostalgia, or the steaminess of a hot summer night... Something was beginning to brew between the two.
