He does not fear what is rightfully beneath him.

Summary
En route to Amphoreus, the Astral Express' transmitters pick up a distress call from a crew of spacers stranded on a small, uninhabited planet, and they make a quick stop to pick them up. Hoping to ease Sunday into Trailblazing with a small mission like this, Welt and Himeko suggest that he go to the surface and assist Caelus, March 7th, and Dan Heng with the rescue-- but when their transport car is caught in a gravity storm and crashes into the planet's surface, they learn that the planet is not nearly so uninhabited as it was centuries ago-- and they might have signed up for a far more extensive operation than they thought.

It's been a very long time since Sunday's played piano.
"Uh, Passenger Sunday?" the Conductor repeats, and Sunday blinks, stiffening as he glances down to meet their eyes, widened slightly in expectation.
"I - sorry," he stammers, clasping his hands together before him in an effort to keep him from tugging his feathers. "I was just - I didn't know there was a piano aboard the Express."
Pom-Pom glances back at it, a small sigh leaving their lips. "Ah, yes," they say, shaking their head. "That old thing... it belonged to Akivili, many years ago."
They say this in the same tone one might say we found it on the side of the road amongst the trash and not this instrument belonged to the long-dead Aeon of the Trailblaze.
The crew of the Astral Express, as Sunday quickly learns, love music.
Or: five times Sunday played piano for a Nameless, and once he played for someone else.

The Baroness has an unfortunate track record of not letting its guests leave. The express crew have an unfortunate track record of not noticing when something is trying to kill them. (the Trailblazer tries to eat the furniture at some point.)And Sunday falls asleep without meaning to, the gentle tides of sleep sweeping in, bringing him to rest amidst the embrace of a silent dark.
The Baroness doesn't let go of its guests, but the Astral Express doesn't let go of each other.

When he can't take it anymore, Dan Heng is there to come to his rescue, and so, Sunday decides to take this rare opportunity of peace and quiet to apologize to Dan Heng for the night before, and maybe, also share with his companion a few of his many doubts and fears that he can't quite shake...like whether this new power of his might make him just like the adopted father he left behind.

“But we’re all they have,” She insisted, taking her cup of coffee and bringing it up to her lips, “What else can we do other than try to be there for them?”
Another sigh, “I… I guess so. I suppose there is no harm in hugging them every once in a while.”
Himeko let out a giggle, “Ah, Welt, you act as if you don’t adore those three. You and I know that you love them as if they were your own.”
Four times Himeko and Welt noticed something was wrong with the other members of the Astral Express, and how they helped them feel a bit more at ease.
