“What the hell, kid?” Jess demands. Miguel notices a few particles of spit flying out of her mouth. The boy’s now huddled against the wall, breathing hard, muttering curses not even Miguel is familiar with. Miguel glances at Olivia, bewildered. His boot stays on the kid’s knife.
“What the fuck is this?” he interrogates. “Who’s the kid? Fireflies are really so desperate they’re using boy soldiers?”
Despite the profuse amount of blood seeping into her shirt, Olivia gets a smug look on her face. She pushes up her glasses with the arm not wrapped around her midsection. When she finally speaks, it’s throaty, maddeningly casual.
“Jess, Miguel? Meet Miles Morales. Your… ‘cargo’.”
(or: 20 years into the outbreak of Cordyceps and the resulting apocalypse, smuggler Miguel O’Hara gets punked out of his weaponry and cracks a deal with the Fireflies. Three weeks prior, thirteen year old Miles Morales was bitten by a Runner and didn't turn. You see where this is going.)

When Miles is teamed up with Miguel for a mission, both of their Multiversal Travel Watches break during a battle, leaving them stranded in a universe that isn't theirs. And while Miguels adapted to being without his watch, Miles hasn't. Miles doesn't have long before his body will disintegrate. Miguel has a soft spot for Miles and swears that he'll get Miles home safe.
