What was the MOC going to do with Ashleigh? They were already technically in a prison cell, and it's not like the Magistrix cared about people like Ash. The central commander probably had enough power to throw a jumpsuit at them, and tell them to get in a cell. Due process had always been an afterthought in their experience.
Maybe Oberson would just find a gun and shoot them. Ash wondered if she'd just shoot them in the head, or if she'd go for the limbs first. She was a cruel woman, and they wouldn't be surprised if she tortured them first if given the opportunity.
Or they'd get sold to the fucking circus again. At which point, Ashleigh might just outright hang themself.

Panam didn’t believe in regrets. As sentimental as she was, there wasn’t room for regret on the road. Aches, pain, loss, all part of the package that was nomadic living? But regret was a luxury for those allowed to look back.
So when the one thing tying her to NC up and vanished, she left. If he wasn’t going to look back, then neither was she. She couldn’t care less if V was dead in a ditch or living the highlife having thoroughly left them in the past. Late calls, scattered texts, endless worrying all for nothing.
No regrets, just pain.

Death was different than Sunny had imagined. He wasn't an atheist, so he at least believed in an afterlife, maybe not heaven, but at least something. At least being a ghost would have been kind of cool. Instead the afterlife was wet. Very wet. It was also very cold.

Her roof was leaking again. It was the same shit, but a different day. It’s what she got for living in the attic of her home, but this was certainly an occasion where she didn’t really have a choice.
Aubrey was above all else resourceful. She needed to be, when her mom was asleep at the wheel of life. Any money she could scrounge up, any food she could find or get, stealing new clothes when she could, sewing up her old ones when she couldn’t, she had gone to growing carrots for bun bun as she got more and more desperate. There was only so much she could do, at 16. Hence, her leaky roof.
