"Asahi-san, who's the couple seated at table nine?" he asks.
"Hinata, how do you not know—" Asahi sighs, dabbing at his brow. "The Kageyamas. The booking was made in the name of Kageyama Tobio. Have you offended—"
"I just wanted to know!" he quickly answers. "Asahi-san, maybe you should sit down—"
"I'm fine," Asahi says weakly, immediately sitting down on an overturned crate.
Tsukishima doesn't even look up from polishing glasses.
"He looks worse than usual," he observes.
"I'm perfectly calm," Asahi insists, clutching his apron like it might run away. "It's just that the Kageyamas are—well—"
"Rich?" Hinata guesses.
"Influential," Asahi says.
"Rich," Tsukishima confirms.

"Yeah. Like you're trying to decide if I'm a weed or a flower."
Kenma snorted softly. "Weeds are useful too."
"Flattering." Kuroo cracked one eye open, grinning. "Though I'd like to think I'm more of a sunflower. Bright. Cheerful. Slightly obnoxious."
"You're more of a bindweed," Kenma said dryly, turning back to his yarrow. "Tenacious. Hard to get rid of."
Kuroo laughed, rolling onto his back and stretching like a cat. "Ouch. And here I brought you tea."
"You didn't bring me tea. You used my kettle and my leaves and then left the pot on the stove until it boiled dry."
"Details," Kuroo waved a hand. "The sentiment was there."

Summary
"Ushijima-san?" Yuuji asks, hesitating. "Do Hinata-san and Kageyama-san not like each other? I thought they were teammates for three years. Why are they acting like that?"
Ushijima turns to look at the two offenders in question — Kageyama seems to be trying to aim a volleyball at his head, while Hinata holds up a book and proceeds to read out a passage from it. Hinata finishes the passage, manages to make Yaku and Bokuto laugh, and promptly gets nailed in the head by a volleyball.
"Oh, the freak duo?" Iwaizumi asks, shrugging as he ticks off a box on his writing pad. "That's just what they're like. Also, Wakatoshi-kun, you owe me five thousand yen — I told you they were going to get into a fight within an hour, and you said two."
"How was I supposed to know that they were incapable of keeping themselves in check?" Ushijima puts up the mildest of protests, before handing over the bills.
Yuuji watches the entire interaction with part horror and part intrigue.
Or: the five times Yuuji wondered what the deal between his two teammates was, and the one time he finds out what the deal actually is.

Summary
some of my favorite memories of my life are built around food — whether it was dinner on a train with a group of women i didn't even know very well, to late evening after class snacks with girls i now call my best friends. food is something lovely and inane and a gift to me, and the rest of the world. so much love can be fit simply within the acts of preparation and consumption. so, here's all the love that i could manage to fit here.
