Goodsir did, gratefully, at a respectful distance from her. “Thank you. I— you must be lonely, yes?”
Silence shook her head, that wry smile still on her face. Goodsir had the distinct feeling that she was amused by him, entertained by his clumsy fumbling around her, the way he tripped over himself where she was concerned.

Summary
A lot of this new existence is involuntary. A lot of it is outside of his control. Changing and chirping and glowing and wanting and starving in ways Viktor wouldn't allow if he had any say in it. Actively rooted out from himself when he did have a say in it.
He'd like to say grabbing Jayce, pressing him to the mattress, pinning him there to taste his supple, enticing mouth was involuntary as well. But that would be a lie, wouldn't it?
Alternatively: Post-canon, alive in a different universe, the machine Herald goes through a metamorphosis, grows some fun new parts, and is tormented by how much he'd like to use those new parts on Jayce. Thankfully, Jayce is more than eager to earn his monsterfucker card.
