Summary
When Mel was cast and announced as the first Black woman to portray Christine, there were riots. Figuratively speaking. The general public and the media had been loud about the possible nepotism behind her casting.
Having a mother and a surname as popular and powerful as Medarda definitely had its perks.
To cast the first Black woman in such a longstanding and classic play after so many decades was groundbreaking. And, on top of that, they cast the first disabled actor as the Phantom.Viktor… something.
A random nobody with an accent so strong in interviews that critics were almost salivating to write a bad review of his performance.
With so much bad press and hearsay going around, everybody expected the two leads to stick together through all that.Only for them to immediately dislike each other.

Viktor has been using Chatroulette for years, opening it up whenever the need for connection threatens to drive him insane, the loneliness he wants to ignore drowning him. It is there that he stumbles across Jayce.
What starts as a one-off meeting, the same way every interaction on the hellsite does, quickly spirals out of control, until Viktor can't help but think that if his mother doesn't protect Jayce the way she is supposed to, he will have to.
After all, he has the experience as to what shouldn't be done thanks to Singed.
