Being chronically single is damaging his attempts in creating a princess he could truly resonate with. He needs a muse. Someone to base her off of.
Will Byers is also 21. He just finished his junior year of art school and is getting ready to move up in the world with his boyfriend, Carlton. He visits his hometown, Hawkins, Indiana, for summer break. His mother reunites with an old high school friend and suddenly he has a babysitting gig with the very nerdy Holly Wheeler.

Summary
"Don't forget to call."
"I won't. I'm at a payphone right outside of the bar." That's another thing Max and Jane hate, the way that Mike expects him to check in every two hours when he's out without Mike. Will doesn't really understand why they make such a big deal out of it. Mike only does it to make sure he's safe.
"Okay, baby. I love you."
Will smiles and suddenly doesn't feel as cold, the sentiment of Mike's words warming him inside and out. "I love you too." There's a pause, a shuffling through the handset, and then the sound of condiment bottles settling as their refrigerator door shuts.
"And be careful, baby." Will can hear the way Mike's voice changes and grows more confident as a smile likely settles across his features. "There's a serial killer out there."
Or, Mike and Will continue to navigate their love a few years after Will’s printmaking class in the wake of the Party’s opinions on their relationship and a serial killer on the loose.

Summary
After a fight with Will, Mike Wheeler finds himself in a universe that isn’t his.
Then another.
