Summary
In which the Dark Urge falls in love, for the second time of his life. And while it is true that for most people, love stories end in tragedy, he is not most people. He is Bhaal's Chosen. And this makes the ending so, so much worse.
"An apple for your horse?" the human woman had asked with a cheeky look to her dark brown eyes, looking up at him with a basket full of fruits propped on one hip.
He had seen her cross the clearing surrounding her house from afar, walking up the path that meandered through trees turned yellow by the arrival of autumn. The internal debate of whether or not he should turn around to not have to speak to her had proved fruitless, and he had stopped walking only when she had accosted him, River halting at his side.
"I believe this is how sad fairytales begin," he'd answered in kind. "Tell me, which ones are poisoned?"
She might have been a spy, after all. A clumsy assassin, believing a simple mortal hand could ever be the end of him. If only. But her laughter had been an unexpected thing, and he'd found himself smiling at her.
She'd winked at him. "Wouldn't it ruin the story, if I told you?"Series

Summary
The battle is won, the Netherbrain defeated, and Astarion is free. But as he returns to the shadows, someone fails to follow him —his lover, child of Bhaal, condemned to madness by his own father. For weakness, for disobedience, it matters not, Storm is lost. Astarion navigates his grief with Tav's help, and fights for closure.
Chapter 2 snippet
"I'm sorry." Her voice was soft and sincere. "I recon a lot of people have lost someone today."
That was probably true. He didn't really care. What right did they have to complain when Storm had given up his life and no one would ever know? "The city still stands, though."
"Hm. It's a good thing there are still idiots willing to risk their lives for the sake of everybody. Couldn't be me."
He couldn't help but laugh again, somewhat bitterly. It would have never been him either, without Tav, or the looming threat of ceromorphosis.Series

Summary
When Astarion wakes up to find nothing but a note in the flat he still shares with Tav seven years after the defeat of the Netherbrain, he seeks the help of many friends to prevent Tav from doing something irreparably stupid (and dangerous).
When he inspected their crafting spot more attentively, he found a hastily scribbled note, his guts twisting unpleasantly at the sight. A note couldn't be good. Tav never left a note when leaving for a few errands. Astarion neared the high table, the mess of Tav's tools very visibly having been abandoned in the midst of a work session, and picked up the piece of parchment on which Tav's hurried handwriting sprawled.
Love, I'm going back to the Feywild for a bit. Cyran was right. I will continue what he started. I'm sorry I didn't say anything before I went, I just need to do this. I'll see you soon.
Oh. Oh no, this was bad. Worse than bad, this could be disastrous.

Summary
In which the Dark Urge is having a very rough first day, and meets Tav, who helps him while he searches for a name that feels his.
'Do you have a name?' was what they'd asked, though. Not 'What's your name', but 'Do you have a name'.Getting the word out felt impossible, but they waited patiently, and his mouth eventually caught up with his brain, the air leaving his lungs with a whispered, "No."
They almost laughed, he could tell, but it was a gentle thing. "The Feys won't get you, then. Although that's not exactly the immediate danger, I'm afraid." The hand they extended to him shone with endless golden rings. "I'm Natavriel. You can call me Tav, if you like."
The silver of his rings met the gold of theirs, and he worked the syllable out, slowly. "Tav."
"Let's get out of this place, yes? I'm sure we can find you some clothes on the way."
He nodded once more, only because this was so much easier than speaking.
"Come on," said Tav, gently tugging at his hand. "I really don't want to die here, it's way too ugly."

Summary
Miss Fortune can't deny it any longer: they're falling for Astarion and somehow it's not as terrifying as they thought it would be. Is it possible Astarion is harboring feelings for them, too? Now that is the terrifying part. He's been hinting that he has something serious to talk to them about for a while and Miss Fortune has been avoiding it out of a fear that the vampire is planning to break things off. Nobody has ever stayed before; why should he be any different?
In the backdrop of the shadow-cursed lands, the two rogues seek to navigate their feelings, their budding relationship, and what it means to love and be loved. Which is no easy feat for two people who for so long have known only sex and violence. Together, Miss Fortune and Astarion begin to rediscover themselves: who they are, what they want, and what kind of life they want to build once they can break the chains of their past once and for all.

Summary
The Dark Urge surprises Gortash with an unexpected gift. Written for World Heart Day, this vignette can be enjoyed as a standalone or as a window into Gortash’s perspective within my Shadows of Creation series.
---
“Good evening, my dear. To what do I owe the pleasure? I hadn’t expected you for another three days.” Enver placed his quill back into its rest with deliberate care, as though even this small act deserved ceremony. He withdrew a silken handkerchief, dabbing the ink from his calloused fingers, each motion precise, betraying nothing of the intrigue quickening behind his eyes.
Her voice broke the silence, smooth and resonant, every syllable warm enough to disguise the knife-edge beneath. “I have a gift for you,” she said, holding out the pouch. “I think you might like it.” The bag was fashioned from waxed cotton, its dull sheen catching the unsteady candlelight. Yet at the base, something darker had begun to seep through—slow, heavy, unmistakable.

--
Astarion is pulled from the Kennel because Cazador needs his new garments tailored. Astarion is a talented tailor, and he loves the art. He doesn't love doing it *for Cazador* or for his wretched siblings. But the quiet and rhythm of sewing is the safest place he knows.
