Fiore lifts her face up slowly. It’s clear she’s been crying for a while, her brown eyes red and puffy. Her bangs are all messed up and out of place, and her brow is creasing. Tear tracks bend over her sunburned cheeks, and her lower lip quivers as she looks at Natalia. There’s a hint of shame in her eyes, as if being seen like this is some major flaw. She flinches away from the staring, and Natalia’s stomach sinks.
“Dios mío, criatura pequeña,” Natalia says. “What’s the matter?”
Fiore opens her mouth slightly, then shuts it. She gives Natalia an unsure look. When she realizes that Nat isn’t giving up, she spits it out.
“He gave up,” Fiore mutters under her breath. “He gave up on me.”

After comebacks, Natalia realizes that her alliance partner is nowhere to be found. After looking for her, they finally connect, despite the game.

She tenses at his stern tone. The grip on her kitten eraser-adorned pencil tightens, her knuckles whitening with haste. She falls eerily silent, yet her pencil scribbling away frantically at the worksheet in front of her almost acts like a second set of vocal chords.
Her handwriting becomes cacophonous— He can’t tell her 1’s from her 7’s anymore.
Alec softens, shoulders dropping just a little lower at her avoidant behavior. “Something is clearly bothering you. Did something happen at school today?”
The thud of Fiore slamming her pencil down echoes throughout the library's study room. So much so that it startles him a bit.
“No.” She replies coldly, sliding her completed work over to him. “Just do us both a favor and give me an A+ so I can get out of your hair.”

Unbeknownst to Alec, Fiore comes into tutoring with her mind freshly full of the stinging words spoken by Alec during his newly released presentation video for Season 5. She isn't taking it too well. Alec picks her brain for what's bothering her and is left with more questions than answers.
