Summary
Papyrus has always tried his best.
Lately, his best doesn’t feel like enough. After overhearing whispers that frame Sans as the “real” brilliance and himself as little more than comic relief, Papyrus begins to push harder — longer training sessions, brighter smiles, louder confidence.
He refuses to slow down, convinced that if he just tries harder, he’ll finally deserve the place he already holds.

Summary
But the fascinating thing he’d learned was, there were a lot of ways to make people hurt—ways that would make them hurt, but not die. Ways to make their soul crack while still barely holding itself together. It got a bit difficult when the target only had one HP, but that only meant that he needed to be more… creative. Indirect.
By hurting a soul intricately linked with the target one, for example.

Sans was grinning, like always, but there was an odd gleam in his eyes, a certain something in his smile that Papyrus couldn’t name. “I actually…”
Papyrus edged closer, cocking his head at the tone of Sans’s voice.
