Summary
The year by the old calendar is 2025.
Home is gone. Home is a failed rescue mission and an echo of a memory. Home is a lost boy living in a wooden house by the sea.
But first, there was a promise. Christopher, when it's safe, I'll take you back to your father. Buck had all but given up on keeping it after the world had died and everyone in it. But just as some oaths refuse to be forgotten, so the same can be said about the endurance of love.

Summary
Now, Eddie makes a sympathetic humming noise. Buck can feel the vibration of the sound through his fingers. He casts his eyes down so that Buck can only see his dark irises. A hand comes up, slowly scratching the side of his face.
"It's funny you say that," he says. His voice has gone so soft Buck thumbs the volume up, his heart in his throat. "My date tonight ended early because I too would not shut up about the amazing guy I apparently couldn't get over. And he didn't enjoy being used as a rebound. Or at least that's how he put it."
Buck didn't hear that right, right? He realizes his mouth has fallen open, a few seconds too late. He scarcely dares to breathe.
"He -? Wait, you were on a date with a - a guy?"
Eddie cocks his head, quirks his mouth. "That's the part of the conversation you're focusing on?"

Summary
Buck doesn’t remember the call for the fire or jumping in front of Chimney to climb the giant lightning rod in the sky. He doesn’t remember the last thing Eddie had said to him before – Alright, cowboy, go get ‘em – or the hooking a carabiner into his harness or the smile Eddie gave him. Memory loss. Muscle spasms. Shortness of breath. They won’t know how this will affect him because not many people wake up from something like this. And it’s the not knowing that succeeds in making Eddie feel a little out of his mind, like he no longer has a solid place to stand.
Keep your theories, Eddie wants to say, pushing away everyone in a white coat that comes by to study Buck’s charts and gawk like they’re behind glass. I just want him back.
He was already interesting before your so-called miracle.
Recovery isn't linear. Eddie only tries to keep a grasp on everything he holds dear as he and Buck find that out the hard way.
*Disclaimer for a not so nice/maybe more realistic version of post-lightning strike life than what the show will probably give us. 🙃

Summary
The blades of the helicopter hadn’t stopped spinning once they had crashed. The earth was cut up, bits of sheared rock and fresh dirt tossed up around it. The tail took the worst of the hit, crumpling into a mangled heap of metal. The body of the machine was on its side, dented and crushed like a tin can. It was a wonder Ravi had made it out as well as he had. He must’ve been on the side that was pointed towards the sky, still hooked into his seat. Which meant that the side Buck had been sitting on, next to Eddie…
Before he knew it he was walking. If Ravi had pulled Buck and the pilot out, where were they now? The cleared area this side of the wreckage was empty save for a few stray pieces of metal and broken tree limbs.
Ravi came alive suddenly, reaching for him. “Wait, don’t, Eddie,” he said, his voice laced with something new, something Eddie felt deeply in his bones.
“Is he hurt?” Eddie’s words shook with the fear he now felt tenfold.
In which a tragedy on the edge of a firestorm leaves part of the 118 stranded and struggling to survive in the wilderness. Left entirely to their own devices, the survivors fight to come home, alive.

Summary
Every life altering event is often led up to with a series of other important events. In this case, there were at least three:
An unstoppable fire.
An afternoon spent underneath a blanket of California blue sky.
But firstly, and maybe the most important of all:
There was the impeccable aiming of an ex-sharpshooter.
***
Or, the Buck is also shot by the sniper AU that no one asked for.

Summary
In the aftermath of New York, the freshly formed team is still trying to figure out how to live and work together without some kind of property damage.
Naturally, nothing says 'Team Bonding' like the decision to fix their fearless leader's love-life and hunt down an AWOL Steve Rogers.
Or, the Thunderbolts break a few timelines, attempt to un-fuck history, and decide they maybe, possibly, kinda tolerate each other in the process.

Summary
“Hey Steve, this is Jack Murphy, our other neighbor. Jack, this is Steve.” Steve looked at Sam a little wildly, expecting to see—he didn’t even know, but some reaction other than Sam’s usual easy friendliness. And there was something there, but it was just the twitch of Sam’s mouth that said he found something hilarious and he was trying not to show it. Was this Sam’s idea of a joke, or a prank? Because this guy—behind the glasses and mustache, Steve could have sworn—well, he looked like Bucky.

Summary
"Where am I? Where is this?" and he was in Brooklyn, he was on a beach, the train was shaking around him. He was in the plane, ice splintering up onto the windshield. He was in a tank, tubes trailing from his face, from his groin. Christ, he was cold. There was still ice on his fingers. He was in the Grand Canyon. He was in Times Square. This couldn't be Times Square. Where the hell was this? "Tell me! Where am I, who are you, where's—" —Bucky?
