You're golfing with your girlfriend when the pain starts, like hot knives under your skin, like your nerves are being slit open along the seams, like if you looked down your leg would be nothing but scorch marks and ash. You hit the ground and she asks if you're okay, and you can't breathe deeply enough to give her a coherent answer.

He's gotten good at controlling it, really. As much as everyone thinks he's incapable of taking care of himself, he has an eye on his mental state at all times. In med school and during his first residency, he used to burn out hard and fast and spend days silent, words stuck in his throat like a solid mass. Sometimes, on his worst days, the silence would cause him to spiral and he would convince himself that nothing is worth it anymore. He hates that feeling of weakness.

While actively overdosing, Peter is sexually assaulted. By the time anyone realizes something is wrong, Peter is dangerously unresponsive, overdosing, and running out of time in a house full of people who never thought to look twice.
AN: The SA scene is very short and not detailed at all, it's just some non-con touching and kissing. I know that can make some people uncomfortable, so I glided over it pretty quick while still mentioning the trauma of it
