Summary
“Isn’t it crazy how we’ve kissed, like, so many times but we still haven’t really ever kissed?” Hudson said into Connor’s ear over the music and the conversation of the crowded house they were in. OR, four times Hudson and Connor kissed and one time they didn't.

Summary
Hudson finally decides to bite the bullet now—here, in the corner of a too-loud gay bar that smells like heavily poured vodka sodas and sweat—and ask the question no interviewer had yet dared to.
“Have you ever been with another guy?”
Connor sips his drink slowly, licks his lips over a smile. “Can't imagine how that's relevant.”

Summary
Carmy pauses again, and Sydney waits. “I don’t, uh. I don’t want you to end up like me.”
“What – what do you mean –”
“Washed up. Tired all the time. Resentful.” His eyes pierce through her, and Syd hates it.
“Best two out of three?” She asks, her lips quivering to maintain composure.

Summary
Carmy folds his arms again, toying with his fork. “Anyways, it’s gonna happen.”
“Right,” Sydney says. “Blind faith. Let it rip.”
“And,” Carmy says, pointing the fork at her, “because you’re you, and this is insane.” He gestures to their empty dishes.
Sydney ducks her head, tries hard not to let his praise tilt her off her stool and onto the floor. “Shut up.”
-- Testing for The Bear's menu, Sydney cooks for Carmy. They share a conversation and a meal. Sydney does her best to be emotionally mature while battling real actual demons (romantic attraction towards her coworker).

Summary
“You can’t know that,” Adam said quietly. Someone and their cart rattled behind him, probably trying to get past, but he was two weeks away from a letter that would decide the rest of his life and was also in crisis about being in love with his best friend and the person behind him probably wasn’t either of those things. So he felt like an asshole but also kind of felt like he had earned the right to have a private conversation in the baking supply aisle for a few seconds.
(it's spring break at the gansey cabin, which is a much more emotional experience than adam would have expected)

Summary
When Adam wakes up to the sound of the organ beneath his floor boards, he knows it's Sunday. It's Sunday and Ronan is down there seated with his brothers, head dipped in prayer or song or, who knows, maybe confession.
In all honesty, he thinks confession would probably be a good place to start the morning between the two of them. But it's Sunday, and Sunday has a little more in store for Adam than that.

Summary
More and more often, Ronan has been sleeping on the floor in Adam's little apartment. And as annoying as that can be, tonight the lack of Ronan's breathing and shuffling around is even more infuriating.
So that's how Adam comes to be sitting in a church pew, thinking about a dreamer and unable to dream himself.

Summary
Ronan hauled himself up onto the bed. "What does it do again?"
"It's kind of like MDMA," Kavinsky lay down, facing him. "If you slowed it down. It releases dopamine and serotonin. A little norepinephrine, so you don't fall asleep." He ticked the names off on his fingers.
"Ok, fucking chemist. Like I know what that shit means."
Kavinsky tapped Ronan's forehead with his index finger. "It's a happy pill, Lynch. Don't overthink it. I'll make you feel good."
"What?"
Ronan must have heard him wrong.
"It'll make you feel good." K repeatedor: a Ronan-centric study of complicated emotions for every boy in his life and poor decision making skills featuring street racing, fighting with your best friend, and the cherry on top: drug fueled sex with a cokehead who's in love with you

Summary
Ronan woke in an instant and knew immediately that something was wrong. It was a pair of skills honed from years where the moments between sleeping and waking were dangerous to himself and others. He clenched his hands first, feeling for whatever he’d brought with him. But they were empty. They were empty and they ached like he’d been holding tight to something for far too long. In fact, his whole body ached. His hair ached, which was what finally tipped him off. It was brushing against his ears for one thing and it wasn’t soft and curly as it had once been, but crisp and gritty, like it had been plied with bar soap and a lifetime of hard water. Which was, of course, enough for him to know where he was. Who he was.
Ronan and Adam take a walk in each other’s shoes.

"Straight answers are boring," Cheng says, "and yes I do mean that for all values of straight. I do not need Ronan to share his tragic backstory, I would much rather deduce it on my own."
"Who says I have a tragic backstory?"
"With your fearsome glower and troubled good looks? If you did not have a tragic backstory it would be a waste."
