Summary
He had gone through the whole attracted-also-to-men crisis in the years before, so even though he still hadn’t managed to tell Robin, or even find the courage to say the words to describe himself aloud, the attraction wasn’t a surprise. It had occurred to him when Jonathan had won over Nancy that while he was mostly jealous of Jonathan because he was pretty sure some part of him would always love Nancy, orbiting back to her at any given opportunity, sometimes he was jealous of Nancy, of the way she let Jonathan kiss her, his big hands resting on her face, and actually, in retrospect, the whole hand thing should have become apparent to him way earlier than it had.
All that to say, Steve was well aware he was attracted to Eddie and occasionally dreamt about sucking on Eddie’s fingers, but it didn’t have to mean anything, and moreover, couldn’t. The whole thing with El and the Upside Down derailed his life, but eventually he was going to get his shit back together and back on track, and he couldn’t be doing that and also bringing men home on the weekends.

"You tired of commitment?" Eddie asked, but what he really thought was that Steve must still be hung up on her. Nancy Wheeler.
"All I've ever wanted is commitment," Steve answered, and the seriousness in his tone felt like a bucket of cold water. This was a soft spot, a sensitive topic. Eddie hadn't meant to push at Steve’s buttons, not for real.
He pushed at Steve's knee again, a cautious attempt at comfort, then leaned back on the couch.
"We don't always get what we want, I suppose." And wasn't that just a little too close to home?
"Sometimes we do, though."

‘Shit,’ Steve says, takes a single step back, swallows. ‘Eddie, I’m so sorry, fuck.’
Eddie can’t seem to look away, can’t bring his ethereal gaze back up where it belongs. Steve thinks he should run, he should flee. A tiny part of him knows Eddie will chase him. Eddie will catch him, outrun him easily.
It's more than a little fucked up how that thrills him.

Jaskier’s inhale rattles. “I wrote it months back, actually.”
Geralt side-eyes him curiously. He is more than a little bit drunk, Jaskier thinks; there is a droplet of ale glistening on his upper lip that his witcher seems not to notice. “You wrote it while we were apart?”
“Not everything is about you, my dear. But your jealousy is welcome- if unwarranted. I am already composing a new song about my darling muse.” The bard brushes the droplet away with light and exceedingly gentle fingers, smiling at the way the other man blinks in surprise, eyes dilating from the stimulation. “Go back to our room to sleep. You look tired, and we have a monster to hunt tomorrow.”
Geralt frowns. “You’re not coming with me tomorrow. You're staying here. ‘S safe here.”
Jaskier laughs. His witcher’s breath is hot against his cheek when the bard turns away. “Since when do I listen to a word you say?”
Or; For all his enthrallment with his witcher, Jaskier's muse has always been heartbreak since the very beginning.
