Carl doesn't feel any different as a Primal than he did as a human. At least, not until the stress of the 9th floor starts to get under his skin. Then a little quirk of the Primal race takes over, and boy does he ever regret his choice.
The AI takes pity on him and tries to help him understand the nuances of his new race, out of the pure, selfless magnanimity of its code. It has zero ulterior motives whatsoever.

The name in itself is cringe-worthy. Carl had argued for a week against it, but eventually, the guy had threatened to stop sending the money if Carl was going to be an ungrateful little bastard wasting Daddy's time, and Carl had to suck it up and deal with the creeper.
“Hi, baby,” Daddy croons. Carl doesn't even know the guy's real name. He's only ever called himself Daddy. The packages he receives are from A.I. Daddy, which gives pretty much zero clues other than the first two initials.
“Took you long enough.”
The man tuts. Carl wishes he could see the man's face, even just once. He wants to know what a dude like Daddy even looks like. Either unbearably ugly or unreasonably handsome. People with the type of fuck-you money that Daddy does are typically one of the two.

When the love songs started on the fourth floor, I began to lose patience.
Every last one of my goddamn alarm traps played a different popular, cheesy love song as the track. After blasting “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley and “Kiss From a Rose” by Seal back-to-back, I was starting to think the trap modules didn’t choose just any random songs from the US Billboard hot 100, but that the songs were instead chosen by the AI just to mess with me.
“Fucking hell”, I swore out loud when one of the traps I was certain I had chosen a different song for, started blasting “I Got You Babe” by Sonny & Cher. “There’s just no way.”
“I like this song”, Donut commented. “Not as good as ‘Wonderwall’, though.”
The AI tries to court Carl. Carl, on the other hand, is not very impressed.
