In the final moments of the Winter War, Kurosaki Ichigo uses Mugetsu and becomes Getsuga itself to take on Aizen. And then he disappears, vanishing without a trace at the moment of Aizen’s defeat. Years after the war, only Rukia still searches for him, knowing the man in her heart is alive, heeding Sode no Shirayuki’s whispers that they will find him.
Then the Quincy come, waging war upon the Seireitei. Just as all seems lost, Rukia feels it: his reiatsu, achingly familiar. He is here: Black hair, long and fluttering in the wind. Red jade eyes. Ichigo has come back, older and changed.
Soul Society used him as a weapon. Yhwach killed his mother and trained him with brutal precision. He doesn’t care who wins this war, or if both sides destroy each other. But blade calls to blade. Soul calls to soul. Rukia is his, and now that he has found her, he won’t let her go.
