Summary
Robby really hadn't meant for any of this to happen.
There was a bassline throbbing distant in the house, the buzz of a party on the floor below, and yet the room they were in was dark, quiet, private. The only light was the dim glow of a lava lamp on the dresser directly in front of where Robby was sitting, the purple wax erupting into oozing globs every time he glanced at it, and it illuminated two things: one, a giant tapestry of The White Album hung behind the dresser; two, the bobbing head of the man between Robby's legs.

Summary
Delusional, this entire thing. Like some Make-A-Wish dream. I'm going to kill myself tomorrow; here's what I'd like for my last day on this mortal plane. To be fucked by a man who hasn't seen him that way in years. To stand in the shower and have someone wash his hair. To eat one last breakfast. To be held. And Jack, pitying him, still, because Robby's always been the one of the two of them who can't handle shit.

Summary
"Just a couple days," Robby said, because he couldn't say what he really meant. Couldn't say, I don't want to leave. Couldn't say, I don't want to go back to my empty condo and my packed bags. Couldn't say, I think I might be in love with you. “Until Duke's out of surgery. Then I'll figure out the trip."
Jack's jaw tightened. He heard the deflection, Robby knew he did, but he didn't push. Just nodded and reached for Robby's wrist tugging him back down.
"Okay, a couple days," Jack offered. "Or longer."

Summary
When his doctor breaks the news to him, Robby can’t say he’s surprised.
He’s not an endocrinologist, but he had put his diagnosis together before even booking his appointment. The hot flashes that left him dazed and sweaty, the random bouts of tachycardia that for once were not anxiety induced, the migraines whenever he smelled something strong enough to break through the haze of his meds -- he put two and two together and realized the warning label on his suppressants finally caught up to him.

Summary
"Why didn't you tell me about this?" Jack says.
Robby winds around himself, almost too mortified to speak. He forces out, "You were so happy with the arrangement that I just thought it was... out of the cards."
Jack looks at him plainly. "I'm not happy. My husband is withdrawing from me. The guy I'm married to didn't seem to want me in bed with him. I thought something was really wrong, man."
"Fuck. I'm sorry." He scrapes a hand over his eyes.
Jack takes his head in his hands, forcing their eyes to meet; with great importance, he tells him, "I love you. You deserve to feel good."

Summary
“You are something else,” Robby says.
“There’s lot more I can be.” He leans up to try and kiss Robby, but Robby leans further up, sitting on the back of his thighs as he reaches for the condom and lube, conveniently placed in the bedside table. “I’m clean,” he says, taking himself by surprise with the offer and then feeling a bit embarrassed about it. Like offering it up is going to make him somehow more desirable.
And Robby, to his credit, veers past the implication. “And just leave you a mess after?”
“He might like it,” Abbot says as he pads back across the room from the en-suite, left only his briefs as he sits on the other side of the incredibly large bed so he can begin removing his prosthetic.

Summary
Sunset Heat (n.) — A spontaneous omega heat cycle occurring later in life, often triggered by a perceived environment of safety, and/or the presence of a compatible mate.
Jack Abbot hasn’t had a heat in over a decade. He buried that part of himself along with his mate, his missing leg, and with everything else soft and needing. The problem is, there's only one alpha close enough to have caused it. And asking him might cost Jack the one steady thing left in his life.

"Congrats again on the award; you deserve it." And with that, she disappeared into the crowd.
Probably off to go plan how to hit on Jack. Jack, who this random doctor wanted to have sex with. Here. At the conference.
Intellectually, Robby knew that was what people did at these things. Drunken hookups at conferences were common, though often denied, if not regretted. Robby had never partaken because that was not his speed, but Jack—
Well, Jack had no such qualms. And at an ED medical conference, he was basically a rockstar. He could probably have anyone he wanted.

Summary
As he stood there in Robby’s doorway, Jack’s gaze caught on the bottle of wine, cast aside earlier and forgotten. He had come to celebrate. His… best friend? The term seemed inadequate for what Robby was to him. His Robby had been planning to kill himself, likely for months, and Jack hadn’t even suspected anything was off until the last possible moment.

Summary
She tucks some of his hair behind his ear, with a (blurry) smile on her lips. He looks down at her, flushed a little, swaying into her so he can snag a kiss or two or more. "These look so nice on you," she muses, still playing with his hair. John feels his face heat up at the compliment.
"Y'think?" he murmurs, going a little cross-eyed the way he's staring at her, trying to focus on her expression. Keaton nods, kissing the tip of his nose, down to his cheek, the corner of his mouth, his jaw. She nods again, and her pupils are blown out with arousal, gaze sultry and sparkling. "Aren't you just my pretty boy? Wearing my glasses,"

Summary
All things considered, there are worse places to wake up than the floor of an exam room at County. Better places, too, but Carter learned by the end of his first ER rotation that a large part of being successful in emergency medicine is learning to work with what you actually have as opposed to what you wish you did.
For one thing, waking up on the floor of exam two in what Carter assumes is the middle of a shift means he's (1) waking up at all and (2) oriented to person and place. He's not so sure about the time element of it all, but two out of three ain't bad.
