Summary
Samira Mohan, by all accounts, should hate Jack Abbot.
She's at the peak of her music career, and she has nothing to show for it. Every award, every chance to top the charts, has been ripped away by artists backed by Jack Abbot, the industry’s most sought-after manager and producer. He’s everywhere she wants to be, and he knows exactly how to get under her skin.
When an uncharacteristic public outburst threatens to destroy her carefully crafted image, Samira is given an ultimatum: join Jack’s team or risk being shut out of the industry altogether. Forced to collaborate, to serve something bigger than herself, and to work directly with the man she blames for her lack of accolades, Samira can finally see the Grammy Award just out of reach. But only if she can trust him.
Samira Mohan, by all accounts, should hate Jack Abbot. But sometimes, hate can spiral into something more dangerous.

Summary
When he looked back at Samira, the warmth was gone. She had one eyebrow raised, arms crossed over her chest, and an expression of absolute disappointment.
"That truck is yours?" she asked, pointing to the vehicle parked right in the blue stall.
"Yes, it's mine, I—" Jack started to say, but Samira didn't let him finish.
"What a shame, Jack," she said, her voice now cold and sharp. "I was actually thinking about giving you my number. You're handsome, you seem kind, but I can't stand idiots who park in disabled spots just because they’re in a hurry or too lazy to walk ten more yards. It’s a total lack of respect for those who actually need them."
Jack opened his mouth to explain that he was one of those people, but Samira's indignation was a force of nature. Without letting him get a word out, she climbed into her car and slammed the door shut.

Summary
It’s not that Samira doesn’t hear Jack when he comes in. She does — the muted jangle of his keys, the snick of the door closing. She’s just halfway in his fridge, is all, blearily rooting around for Greek yogurt and berries she hopes against hope haven’t begun to fuzz, so it isn’t until he greets her with “well, aren’t you up early,” that she turns and realizes he isn’t alone.
“Is that Baby Jane Doe?”

Summary
Samira doesn't notice that Jack has drawn closer until he’s grabbing her right arm and lifting it to rest along his shoulders, her elbow bracketing his neck.
“What are you doing?” she asks, a bit startled. “Jack -”
“Hold on,” he tells her, and then he scoops her legs up with his right arm, sweeps her up, and he is carrying her. Strong enough to do so with only one arm.
a.k.a. Dr. Jack Abbot carries Dr. Samira Mohan home from a house party.

Summary
Abbot is all restraint, all talk and no bite. Samira knows he's been flirting with her, because she'd discovered weeks ago she's been flirting right back.
And if you think about it -
Eight months is a long time with just her fingers.
"Jack." Samira says and the reaction it elicits immediately sets her heart pounding. Dr. Abbot - Jack - inhales sharply, eyes widening. He takes a step forward, pure instinct driven, before stopping himself. And, oh. There's a power that she suddenly feels, coursing through her veins and setting her blood on fire.
"Walk me home?"

Samira,
We are all so incredibly proud of you and cannot wait to hear all about the amazing work you do at UCLA. We can only hope that California doesn’t charm you too much – but no matter what, you’ll always have a family here in Pittsburgh. Hope you know how much you will be missed around here. Please stay in touch and send pictures of the beaches and burritos often.
All the best wishes,

Summary
He was meeting someone. And he was genuinely excited about it. He had been messaging a woman for weeks anonymously, and he was thrilled to admit they had real chemistry. It didn't erase the pull he felt for the R-3 standing next to him, but he was excited to make a connection.
"Well, I won't keep you. I'm just waiting,” she said.
"No trouble at all, Mohan." He glanced down at his phone and sent off a message.
(20:26) I'm here. By the bar. Blue sweater.
He heard the familiar ping that meant a message had been received from the app. He glanced back at his phone, but there was no message for him. Instead, Samira was looking down at her phone. Then back to him. Then to his sweater and then his face again. Her already large brown eyes doubled in size.
Jack felt realization wash over him. Shit.
