He doesn’t need to ask this man, this voice, who he is. Though it may be one he’s never heard before, that cadence, these words, that touch, that care….is not unfamiliar, it’s the opposite of it. Way too familiar. What used to be a constant in his life for the past few months. Much too far away from him. Outside of him now. He doesn’t want to, wants to hold on and on and on to that familiar darkness, and that comforting voice telling him everything they’re seeing.
He’s seeing.Post 43. John never gets to ask Yorick to bring Arthur back from the dead. Instead, Kayne does it for them, eager to move their little trip across time and space along. In a present day setting, John and Arthur have to live with the aftermath of the events that unfolded within the hag's den. With John thrust inside a body of his own against their will, tasked with a mission that is as illusive as ever. Keep looking for the black stone. Overcome all the horrors and obstacles. And never forget about the carrot and the stick.

Summary
After Bella’s death, Arthur Lester is left with a newborn. However, he’s… very busy, he swears, so he hires a live-in nanny. John Doe is certainly capable and talks about his many years of experience in the field. That's an awfully strange name, perhaps, but nothing of concern. It's good that he certainly isn’t hiding anything.
John is on the run from his rich father and has never held a baby in his life. Not until Faroe at least who seems to take a benevolent pity on him and is rather calm at their first introduction. He just needs to keep his head and not get too attached to in the meantime. Easy.
Eventually Parker Yang finds himself wrapped up in this makeshift family. With an adorable kid and her two er- damn they're pretty good looking aren’t they? Fuck. Well he’ll figure out how he fits here… hopefully.

John’s voice always rose and fell, low into a deep growling bass and high into a rough yell. But one constant, one word that never sounded different no matter the tone was how he said Arthur’s name. Emphasis on the ‘ar’ and ‘ur’, the ‘th’ in the middle always smooth like wind. Other people tended to hiss that sound, the ‘th’. With John, it seemed he knew exactly how to say it to make it glide.Based on all that, he deduced it was in fact John saying, “Arthur!”

Summary
John, a hockey player with a promising career ahead of him, is partially blinded after an accident during the Olympic gold-medal hockey game. Unable to play professional hockey anymore, he moves back to his hometown and begins to make a life for himself without professional skating. However, he longs for something more than bar hockey leagues can offer him. So when figure skating coach Parker Yang comes to him with an offer—a chance to win an Olympic gold medal as a figure skater, paired with the infamously temperamental but wildly talented Arthur Lester—he accepts. Flushing in embarrassment, Wei Ying hurries over to A-Yuan and crouches to place his hands on his shoulders. “A-Yuan, that’s enough,” he says. “Sorry, Lan Zhan, he used to go to a different bookstore where they host regular storytimes, I think he thinks you’re the designated storyteller for the day—”
He gets to his feet, holding A-Yuan at his hip, and glances up to look at Lan Zhan. It’s an awful, terrible, horrible mistake. This close, every detail of his face is utterly inescapable.
“Story time,” says A-Yuan, lower lip wobbling dangerously.
Wei Ying glances around, finding people staring curiously at the scene unfolding before them. “A-Yuan,” he hisses urgently. “We need to go. I’ll tell you a story on the way home, okay?”
“Do you really need to go?”
Wei Ying starts at Lan Zhan’s voice. He’s still looking steadily at him, an unreadable expression in his eyes.
(Seven years after running away from home to pursue a story that would expose one of the biggest media scandals in recent years, Wei Ying runs into the last person he’s expecting to see at a quaint, forgotten bookstore he hasn’t set foot in for a very long time.)

To say that he runs to his car would be incorrect, as he is a Lan, and running is both undignified and unnecessary unless in immediate danger. Nor does he slam his key into the ignition, or aggressively swerve around the cars on the freeway, or have a mild panic attack at the fact he is picking A-Yuan up late from school for the first time ever.
He comes close, though.
By the time he arrives, it’s 4:35PM, and he has imagined about fifty different worse-case scenarios. The door is partly open when he gets to it, a messy label of 104B—Art Room scrawled with chalk on a placard next to the faded wood. As he opens it fully, he expects to see a wailing, terrified child, or perhaps a scene of utter misery and betrayal.
What he finds is his son, hands covered in paint, being sung to by a beautiful, dark-haired stranger.
“Ducks live in the pond, yellow ducks, happy ducks!”
Lan Wangji stops in his tracks.

Summary
An ill-fated parent teacher conference reunites Jin Ling's wayward uncle with Sizhui's father. AKA: A matchmaking disaster as told by Jin Ling, Sizhui, and Jingyi.
Jin Ling knows he’s in deep trouble even before reporting to Headmaster Lan’s office, but the words “your uncle will be here soon” still strike the fear of God in him. His only consolation is that Jingyi and Sizhui’s guardians are also in the office, Jingyi’s mom already lecturing her sheepish-looking son. Lan-ayi only stops when Sizhui’s father, a quiet and tall man in white, clears his throat, causing her to engage him in one-sided smalltalk.
This is a disaster. Jin Ling had spent such a nice break at home for Mid-Autumn Festival, and Fairy’s presence had soothed his homesickness after returning to boarding school in Gusu. He knows pets aren’t allowed, but who is going to report Jin Ling when his father pays good money for a private suite in the dorms? Then there was the incident with Jingyi, a box of mooncakes, and a door left ajar. Long story short, he spent an hour chasing Fairy down the halls with Sizhui and Jingyi before finding his dog nosing up to a very angry Headmaster Lan.
