“Tsukasa!” the captain bellows when he spots him. “Just the man I was looking for!”
Tsukasa closes his eyes, counts to five, then reopens them. “Hello, Ryusui. Did you need something?”
“Yes, hello!” Ryusui beams at him, nursing a half-full mug of beer. “Not really, but does a man need a reason to talk?”
“I suppose not,” Tsukasa says as he vividly imagines being run over by the old Steam Gorilla.

Aventurine slides the revolver into his hand. The weight of it rests deftly against his palm. He pops open the cylinder—true to Sunday’s word, five empty chambers stare back at him. Neatly slotted in the sixth is one shining, fresh round.
He closes it back up, smiling. “You weren’t lying about the single round, at the very least.”
Sunday folds his hands atop one another, his face impassive. “You could always answer the question if you’re nervous.”
“I think I’ll take my chances.” Aventurine cocks the hammer, relishing in the sound of the cylinder’s spin, and then points it at his own temple. He tilts his head up so that he’s looking down at Sunday, and lets a lazy grin spread from ear to studded ear.
Bang, he mouths, as he presses down on the trigger.
(Sunday and Aventurine play twenty questions, in which a refusal to answer might sink a bullet in their brain. Also, they strip.)

“I understand why you’re hung up over this,” Komaeda sighs. Politely, Izuru refrains from informing him that he certainly doesn’t. “It’s only natural, of course. Your brilliant mind won’t tolerate any less than perfection.”
Komaeda shakes his head. “Of course, someone like me could never really be able to relate. With as feeble and insignificant as I am…”
Another set of meaningless, boring words. They are not what Izuru wants to hear.
It is then, with a chill that perhaps brings him more joy than it should, Izuru realizes he doesn’t know what it is he does want to hear. His eyes widen just a fraction, his next breath uneven from where it catches briefly in his throat. The uncertainty tightens in his stomach, and it makes his entire spine tingle.

Kamukura Izuru wasn't created to feel. Somehow, this fact does not stop him.

Like we were always meant to be this close – do you know what I mean? Do you feel it?”
“You’re still holding my wrist,” says Hinata.
Komaeda lets him go, and then he touches his elbow, gently, as though in consolation. “With my luck the way it is,” he says, “no one’s gonna be able to kill me unless I let them.”
