Summary
(now) TV series canon-divergent before David Hollander goes to the cottage for
dishwasher tabletsa charger.Shane makes a trip to the convenience store about five minutes away. He texts Ilya to let him know when he's on his way back. Too much time passes, and Ilya's texts and calls go unanswered. Ilya has a terrible feeling that something is very wrong.
Ilya is right.
Shane's in an accident, and other than the drunk driver calling emergency services, he's useless to help. Shane's trapped, unconscious in his burning car, but Ilya arrives to save him.
Afterward, they're both injured in different ways, and the road to recovery involves more than just physical healing. If that wasn't bad enough, they also have to deal with the media frenzy. Ilya is told he's a hero, but he doesn't feel like he is, not when he's also a huge liar.
If this sounds familiar and you were around a few years ago, you may’ve read the tiny one-shot with a similar plot I wrote, planning to continue it as a series and never did. Thank you to those of you who reached out about that fic and the previous comments on it. I hope you'll like this rewrite and expansion.

“Don’t worry?”
Shane’s hackles raise, because not long ago he’d read Ilya’s last words and felt his heart stop. And not long after that, Shane watched Ilya collapse, fade, and everything in his own body leaped to follow.
Worry seems pretty appropriate, actually.
“Shane,” and the way Ilya says his name, like it’s something precious, will never stop shaking Shane with the double-tap of his blood, rising to the wonder of it; it’ll never stop making Shane feel seen for every raving thought and fear and dread he’d spent his whole life hiding, like Ilya’s first language was Russian, but his mother tongue was Shane.
“I mean only you don’t need to worry, it will all be fine,” Ilya says so gently, steeped in more love than Shane quite knows how to hold. “Is natural for me.”
“Scaring the fuck out of me? Yeah,” the words pop out, like Shane's jittery heart knocks them past his lips without meaning to: “kinda starting to seem that way.”

Summary
Ten years after the war, most Slytherins have either been executed or gone into hiding. A few, like Draco, exist on the outskirts of society. Not that Draco minds, his life is simple and respectable. He runs a business he loves and keeps his head down. It's not perfect, but for Draco, it's more than enough. That is, until he makes the ill-advised decision to help a very drunk Harry Potter.
Potter, true to form, takes this as an open invitation to not only invade Draco's home, but also to drag Draco into the political mess that Wizarding Britain has become. And of course he does, because how can Harry Potter come into contact with anyone, and not get them involved in the self sacrificing bullshit that is saving the world?
Abruptly Draco's well curated life is careening out of control, and worse, his stupid heart is chasing right on after it.

Summary
Newly traded to the Ottawa Centaurs, Ilya Rozanov is so close to having everything he’d never thought he was allowed to want. He can see the man he loves more than four times a year, he’s surrounded by a team who supports him through his injury, and Shane’s parents have unhesitatingly accepted him as part of the family.
Except his lingering concussion symptoms have kept him sidelined from hockey, his boyfriend is still two hours away, their schedules are a disaster, and Shane’s team is, well…it’s full of assholes. There must be a way to make this all work out.

The weather alert screeched over both their phones, furrowing Shane’s brow almost instantly. He grumbled as he dismissed the alarm. “Fuck. Storm’s coming.”
It’s been years since Shane was knocked out cold on the ice. In that time, he’s been outed, moved back to his hometown, and now gets to play hockey with his husband. And none of it has to be a secret anymore. Everything should be easy now.
Migraine with aura are common in people who have had traumatic brain injuries (TBI). Common migraine triggers are sleep disturbances, skipping meals, high stress in work or life, and changes in the weather, particularly low pressure systems
Or
isn’t it ironic that dealing with pressure for so long, that a snowstorm, a low pressure system could wreak so much havoc? That during the time that Shane has had the least pressure on him, that’s when his head explodes?
