There’s that question again. Trevor’s face is doing that thing it does, the usual wildness replaced with something Michael can’t make out. He hates that look. He'd take furious Trevor, gun-in-hand Trevor, over this one every time. He goes to take another sip from his whiskey, but there’s nothing left at the bottom of the cup.
“I’m good, T. Tired, didn’t sleep well last night.”
Trevor looks at him from across the couch, eyes narrowed, irritated. “You can tell me if you’re having a shit time, man, I’m not going to make a thing out of it.”
“It’s not a thing, would you just drop it? I’m fine. Really fucking good, actually.”
Trevor looks at him again, lips pursed in annoyance. At that moment, Michael thinks about how he could always kill himself.

Summary
L doesn’t know if what he feels for Light qualifies as love, but if not, it’s the closest he’s come since childhood, when love was easier to give. He loves Light so much that he’s planned his downfall in meticulous, retributive detail. Gone are the days of chasing Kira to an impersonal end. The moment Light stared down the barrel of his father’s gun after weeks of self-inflicted torture, his fate was sealed.

Mikami is, in simple terms, perfect. He’s intelligent, agrees entirely with Light’s ideology, reveres him, making it near impossible for the man to betray him, and, of course, the obvious. Mikami is a man. He is Light’s ideal partner in every sense of the word. Business, romantic and sexual. He follows Light’s orders without question or hesitation.
Now that he’s won, Kira can have anything he wants. And he wants Mikami.
