“What?”
“Is there someone in the picture?” He’d leaned closer to her, visibly interested in the answer. His hand left the back of the couch and came to rest on her knee. MJ allowed herself a glance, seemingly having lost the ability to breathe. Finally, she shook her head.
“No, not…not right now.” His eyes were a deep brown, and they were so much more intense than she’d imagined.
(Or, MJ's a journalist on a mission to uncover young CEO Peter Parker's secrets, and finds herself uncovering something else.)

“Their Don is some kid named Peter Parker. 33. No previous mob affiliations. He turns 23 and bam! It looks like he just snapped. He gathers a group of affiliates and goes on a spree. Knocking off mob bosses and lower level guys left and right.”
Michelle swipes the screen. A grainy picture of a man standing outside of a ShopRite materializes. He is carrying groceries for the older woman next to him. He looks boyish. Michelle asks, “Track and report?"
Liz shakes her head, and lays it out clean and simple, “Infiltrate his group. Gain his trust. Find out his end game. And, if necessary, take him out.”

"She's on her way, Peter, I told you. Just stay calm, man." Ned was clearly horrified hearing his friend in a crazed, delirious state of lust and madness. It had upset MJ, too, when she walked into his apartment and saw him falling apart that first time months ago.
"I need her!" Peter cried, banging against the walls. "I need my mate, please, please!"

The city is unusually quiet tonight. Oh, sure, he’s had his usual crimes: muggings, drug deals, a few break ins. Nothing special. Nothing that could possibly explain the thread of tension winding through him, slowly tightening like a noose. Ever since last night, his spidey senses have set off at a low, maddening hum, distracting him, needling him, filling him with a restless energy that’s robbed him of restful sleep. He’s used to dealing with his super powered anxiety, but this feels different somehow. More ominous. And what’s weirder is that other people seem to be a little more wary, a little more on edge than usual, too. Cops, firefighters, even one of the guys Peter caught snatching a purse commented on it from his web cocoon on a street light.
“You feel that, Spidey? The city’s all weird tonight. Feels like the whole place is holding its breath, waiting on something.”
