The spoon made a hissing sound on the rim of his cup before he put it on his napkin. Sharp eyes met Harry’s over the table and Louis said, “So, we have a lot to talk about then.”
“How do you mean?” Harry blew on the foam at the top of his latte and let the heat of it warm his hands. Anxious energy curled down his arms as he waited for Louis to speak.
“Well, what are we doing about the business?” Louis picked up his mug and with his mouth against the lip of it, added, “Or are you going to leave that too?”
Against his will, his cheeks flushed in annoyance and Harry snapped, “Of course I fucking won’t.”
Or just after midnight on Harry's 30th birthday, he realizes he can't do another year without change. So, he forces it. Breaking up with Louis might have hurt less if they weren't co-owners of Studio 28, living within walking distance of each other, and if he wasn't the thing Harry was most afraid of losing. Secluding themselves on their shared estate in an attempt to save their working relationship may shed a light on where everything else started going wrong. And perhaps give them a chance to fix it.

As he faces his past wrongdoings and the scars they left, chances will be granted to him - either to repair what was once broken or finally find closure. Torn between the desire to defend himself and the fear of the truth being rejected, he will learn peace comes from honesty - and that sometimes, what appears to be the easiest solution simply was the most coveted one.
Or: Louis and Harry meet again after years apart and have to learn to live together by detangling their shared past and uncovering old secrets.

Mitch stays silent, brown eyes watching Harry and waiting for an elaboration.
“He was waiting for me to call.”
“And you didn’t,” Mitch concludes.
“It was a one time thing!”
“Did you say you’d call?” Mitch tilts his head. He knows Harry too well.
“Well. Yes. But! That’s just something you say,” Harry shrieks and starts pacing, “like ‘break a leg’, or ‘happy birthday’ to a colleague, or—or! ‘I’ll see you later’ when you very clearly won’t. You know?”
He spins on his heels to judge the response.
Arms crossed like a disappointed parent, Mitch looks unimpressed.
Harry hadn't planned on seeing Louis again, not after that night. When he finds out his only competition for a very desired promotion is Louis, he spirals into a mess of trying to be a better coworker and person right before Christmas in hopes that he can outdo Louis' effortless effect on his office. If he manages to get his head out of his ass along the way, it’ll be a holiday miracle.

OR - Harry doesn’t do relationships. He has a perfectly enjoyable friends-with-benefits agreement with a perfectly lovely omega, and he doesn’t see the need to change that anytime soon. The small fact that Louis giving his attention to another alpha makes Harry want to put his head through a wall isn’t nearly as much of an issue as everyone’s making it out to be.
