Blue-tinted moonlight glinted off his golden, shaggy hair, making it shine. His eyes were darkened by shadows, making them look a beautiful shade of forest green. Even in the dim light, she could see his pink cheeks and lips. She could see the fine stubble that dusted the sharp curve of his jawline and cheekbones. He looked like a modern-day James Dean—captivating and awestriking, able to catch the eye of any onlooker. Ladybug knew that once she was alone, she’d pinch herself. There was no way he was real, there was no way he loved her, and there was no way he was hers. It was all just some dream.

She was half awake, her eyes unable to open, her phone on speaker, resting beside her on the pillow. Yet, the sweet sound of his voice, deeper and more gravelly because he’d just woken up, was enough to make her lips curl into a happy, lovestruck grin. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she wonders if she could record his morning voice and hear it all the time, instead of only their ten-minute good morning calls.
