Max would shake his head but he knows it’s a bad idea. “No, No,” but he’s having trouble getting the words out. They're slurring together and the pulse behind his eyes is unrelenting. The world’s nothing more than a black and white blur, GP’s voice struggling to be heard over the intensifying ringing. “I-I can make it to pit I just-”

There’s damage to the car. Dozens of warnings and sensors are lighting up across his board and he normally knows what to make of it, but at the moment the only thing he knows is that there is silence.
There’s no “Mad Max” in his ear. There’s no anger or heat or defense. No talk of penalties or championships or points lost. There’s just… nothing.
An additional ten seconds have passed. (Now fifty-nine into the race.) The monitors swim in his view as he presses the button that connects him to Max.
“Max, are you okay?”

Charles expects him to be uncooperative, violent but instead he's met with a skittish twenty-year-old who barely speaks and seems terrified of the prospect of returning to his agency.
The strange serum along with a whole other concoction of drugs left in his system don't exactly scream willing participant either.
But Redbull want their weapon back and they will stop at nothing to get it.

Lando had seen Charles feverish a couple of times, it was quite entertaining to be honest, mostly because he drove Max mad, between refusing meds and begging for cuddles. They had dealt with the Monegasque tooth infection once, but then again, Max had been the one handling all the complaining, the meds schedule, the doctor appointments and so on, while Lando’s only duty had been being Charles’ cuddle provider.
But Max? Lando had no idea of what to expect from a sick Max.

The knifing twist in Max's abdomen was blindingly, swelteringly hot, focused down into a sharp point that throbbed in his lower abdomen, around the hipbone. He cringed down, the room swimming, his guts clenching in on themselves and only making it worse in the process. He threw up.
The world came back into focus as he shivered. He had to do well in Austria, of course, and then he’d get a 12-day break before starting England. So it was okay.Or:
Max has appendicitis, ignores it. Races with a deliriously high fever. Charles attributes his reckless driving to ego, and is very angry. Charles confronts Max on their way to the podium and, catching him as he collapses, realizes he doesn't know anything about Max at all.
