Eddie stands up off the couch and pats the newly vacated cushion twice. "Come on."
Buck looks at him, confused. He tilts his head before very slowly scooching himself down the couch until he's seated in Eddie's old spot.
"No – you know what? I should have specified. Lay down, Mister Leg Model. Stretch out the goods for me."
Buck obeys, because he's good like that and he definitely knows when Eddie's being serious. This knowing each other thing goes both ways. It's one of the things that makes knowing Buck feel so easy.
When Buck is fully laid out, Eddie drops to his knees in front of the couch and cracks his knuckles dramatically. It actually kind of hurts and he regrets it immediately, but he refuses to let Buck know that. "Alright, Buckley. Get ready for the best massage you've ever had in your whole life."

Curling in on himself, Buck coughs in earnest, hacking violently enough that he tastes bits of copper on his tongue. Eyes watering, struggling to breathe, Buck shifts to his hands and knees. The vials roll away, leaving him with a free hand to pound against his sternum. The sensation of something crawling up his neck, choking him, has panic setting in until it’s finally free. Something plops onto the floor with an unsettling wetness.
Looking down, he sees a full grown string of honeysuckle, roots and all, tainted with splatters of blood in the silvery moonlight. Its nectar still lingers on his lips, sugary, delicate, ominous. The message is clear. Buck leans his forehead on the floor, and screams.
Even knowing this love would eventually kill him, for Eddie, he’ll let it.

Buck's looking death down the barrel, yet again, this time in the form of Hanahaki. Eddie's leaving for Texas, Maddie's struggling in the aftermath of being kidnapped, Bobby has yet another specter of his past coming to haunt him. Buck will let himself strangle on the blossoms of his own unspoken love rather than ruin what little he has left.

The brave, strong part of his brain has surrendered shamefully, white flag hoisted while the rest of his brain—stupid, stupid—hosts a skillfully imagined supercut of his best friend kissing men. It’s surprisingly new subject matter for him. What’s unsurprising is his distaste for every conjured scenario, discarding each indistinguishable stranger until the reel buffers on something more… familiar.
“Well—”
Eddie waits a patient minute for Buck to continue before asking, “Well, what?”
“I just mean—if it’s just a kiss, right.” Buck pauses. “You could, uh. You could try it with me.”
