Deep inside the overlapping folds of the universe, tucked between worlds, lies an island floating amidst the ocean of time and space. Stardew Island; a place where the remnants of dead worlds collect to become one with the soil. It's a home for those that slip between the thinly woven fabric of reality, a haven for rejects and lost souls that can no longer find their way home. Ancient spirits, long forgotten by the universe, sing along with the island's humming in the forests with the songbirds. Junimos dance with the wind, playing games long forgotten and left behind. Yoba wove together the island's wavelength, entangling its threads with the inhabitants, leaving them to be changed by the island's whims as he guides another lost soul to Stardew Island.

The respawn machine was, at the core of it all, a product of its time. An innovation, they had said; a machine without any side effects, a perfect alternative to hiring new mercenaries, accompanied by stiff safety regulations to boot.
At the very least, that was what the public was led to believe.
It was easy to peel away the years of lies and expose the truth: Mann Co. had cut corners, and would have continued to if not for the company’s catastrophic downfall. The respawn machine had been thrown together haphazardly with funding cut in half, most of the funding needed being pulled from the worker’s paychecks directly. Safety tests hadn’t even been a thought at the time, the entire machine held together with gum and dumb luck.
The downfall, of course, had been gloriously horrific—not that it was a surprise.or

After spending weeks floating aimlessly in the Prison Dimension, Leon comes to terms with the fact that he will likely never see his family again. Of course, that’s when a portal decides to swallow him whole and spit him out into a desolate wasteland, just as lonely as before but with more gravity and fewer aliens. He desperately wants to just lie down and succumb to the wounds left by the Kraang, to go to sleep and let the sweet release of death wash over his mind, but when he meets a past version of himself, a child at the very most, he must do what he can to keep himself and…himself alive.
Of course, it only gets more confusing when they meet a future Leo as well.
AKA: highly self-indulgent fic where I put Leo, Future!Leo, and TurtleTot!Leo in the same room until they hug :))

As Donnie began typing away on his laptop, Mikey looked over at the circular machine standing before him before looking back at his brother.
"Are you sure this is gonna work, Don?"
"Of course it will! Why wouldn't it?"
Mikey gave a concerned side-eye look at the equipment wired to his arms. "You know.. Just call it a hunch?"
