All in all, per the status quo when it came to dealing with the Straw Hat Pirates and their Captain.

With so many great people; they branch into all areas of enterprise, government, and politics. Those who have some idea what they wish to do with their future at any rate. For Kurt Vander, someone who has always felt a distinct lack of that self-confidence and clarity of vision, the end of the war meant floating along, pulled by whatever current. The strongest just happened to be his brother Mueller's pull that drew Kurt into the Radiant Shield - a peace keeping organization inspired by the Radiant Wings.
A series of meetings with Ash Carbide and others seem determined to say this is the wrong choice.

It was an odd feeling to be in Ymir. On one hand he was giddy at the thought of finally being able to see the place where Rean grew up; the spots where a small but bumbling and all too eager little boy would trip and fall over but immediately jump back up and shout “I’m fine!”; the open areas where Rean had trained his sword arm, swinging his tachi relentlessly in hopes to reach the strength he desperately sought for; or even the hidden corners no one else knew of where Rean went to just be alone. Crow wanted to see all of it.
But the last time Crow was here, he was far from welcome and most definitely an unwanted sight. There was absolutely no way in Crow’s mind that a mere “I’m sorry for kidnapping your daughter and putting your son in danger” was going to make things all fine and dandy and he’ll be welcomed into the Schwarzer family with loving arms.
