So they fight again. And again, until the sea goes from blue to black like bruises on their cheeks. Until their bodies are covered in enough sand to be built from it. Until they abandon the knives at their belts and lay together under finely plotted stars and laugh into the soreness.
“I’m Red,” the stranger says, leaning close enough to kiss. “Least that’s what my friends call me.”
“Oh yeah? What do I get for being one of your stupid friends?”
He smiles. His teeth shine like sharpened pearls. He pushes himself to sit. Sand trickles off his back, and he nods toward a ship docked by the sea.
“I’ll show you.”
Or, Katsuki washes ashore with a fragmented memory of himself and the red-haired pirate who keeps appearing in his dreams. Drawn to the records of a new sailing ghost ship, he heads for the sea in hopes of finding an answer.

However, Katsuki had failed to consider the consequences of betraying a princess, just as he had underestimated how deeply he could fall for Kirishima. He should have known better than to get involved in the games of royalty.

He knows the way he says it is too dismissive, and when Katsuki’s voice drops an octave, replying, “Oh, am I…?” Eijirou wonders if he’s unwittingly jumped the gun.
Or: All Eijirou wants to do is enjoy his last summer of freedom before he has to take an unfulfilling local job for the rest of his life. Cue the town's black sheep mysteriously reappearing after a decade with unclear intentions.
