Tony steeled himself for something. A tearful embrace, maybe a hug that turned into an iron grip around the throat. Instead, Peter dropped his duffel on the couch he had just spent an hour perfecting. A small death inside.
Right,” Tony muttered, clearing his throat. “So—”
“When am I going home?”
Sharp. No warm-up. Kid even left the earbuds in, music leaking loud enough to prove the point: not listening. Then he flopped onto the cushions with an undue hardness.
Tony swallowed the wince. “Wow. Okay. Straight to the big existential. You only just got here.”
Peter shrugged, gaze fixed somewhere past him. “Yeah. I know.”

Tony Stark met Mary Parker at a party. Fourteen years later, there’s a furious teenager on his couch and a past he thought he’d buried at the door. Peter is brilliant, guarded, and far too old for fourteen. Between boardrooms & blown circuits, Tony’s learning the difference between fixing a problem and raising a kid. There was also the ``avoiding eye contact´´ whenever he felt guilty, his twitching right eye if he was lying or fiddling with his hands when he was hiding something.
But Peter had been -in fact- doing all the above for the past week and Tony was determined to get to the bottom of it.

“You and that kid share quite a few similarities, and the case has so little evidence. With your help, I really think we could use those things to our advantage.”
Peter was dubious. “How, though?” he asked, his tone teetering toward sarcasm. It was a natural impulse that he couldn’t consistently avoid. No matter how hard he tried. “What do you want me to do? Knock on Tony Stark's front door and pretend to be Arno?”
May said nothing as she stared at him from across the table. Initially, he didn’t understand. But as she elevated her eyebrows and tilted her head, it clicked. That was exactly what May wanted him to do.
