beware, this really hits hard with the isolation and the hurt of hurt/comfort is very much emphasized
one of the few non-gram/black fics i really enjoyed in this fandom, the premise is so cool and well-executed
can't say i'm a really big fan of exhonerating todd, but he's less of a dick in this one and black's allowed to make mistakes (in my eyes) because he's precious to me -

Summary
But as days and weeks passed, it was no longer only the look in his eye or the way he wore his hair that changed. The new Black stopped coming over. He no longer appeared unannounced late at night and borrowed his clothes to then fall asleep next to Gram. Instead, the new Black stopped smoking and stopped bruising his fists. The new Black started opening up. The new Black joked with Yok and listened to Gumpa’s advice. The new Black shared rooms with Sean. He couldn’t understand it. He was growing closer to everyone around him, but drifting away from Gram.
So when Black came over to study, Gram couldn't help but purposefully take off his shirt, stretching his lean body over his bed, angling his hips so that the light hit his happy trail, even when he knew about Eugene. But Black’s eyes didn’t drift; they were unwavering. And instead he brought up Sean, Sean, Sean, and it felt like Gram had already lost him. And when he told him he was going to meet Sean, Gram let him. He let him although he had never come and not stayed the night. He let him although it felt like every part of him was slipping through his fingers.
Or: Gram before, during and after losing his best friend, and then a piece of himself along the way.

Black was made to lead a revolution and Gram is happy to follow him.

Summary
White drowned himself in the river and his brother didn’t come. He lost count of the times he drowned himself before he realized Black wasn’t ever going to come get him. Black clearly didn’t want White around. And White wanted his brother to be happy, and this was what his brother wanted, so White went back to his father.
Now Black didn’t want his baby brother to be hurt, but he wanted him safe. And White went home, which was all Black ever wanted, so why did everything feel so fucking wrong?
