Luckily for him, at the same time a dangerous individual happens to take an interest in him and fate ensures that there are plenty of encounters between them.

Summary
There was another student here.
Tom recognized him vaguely—while transfer students were not necessarily uncommon due to the war, they were rare enough to at least make an impression. This particular transfer student was in his year, sorted into Ravenclaw after an impressively long hat stall. He looked like he might be descended from the Potter line, but he did not share the surname so his lineage was of no particular interest to Tom. Nothing about him was of particular interest to Tom, in fact, and yet here he stood, holding the book that Tom had come here to find.
It would be a good time to turn away. The Restricted Section was restricted for a reason—only books documenting extremely dangerous or extremely advanced magic were stored here.
Tom’s feet, however, suddenly felt as if they were made of lead. It wasn’t magic keeping him tied down, but something far more mysterious like curiosity or even fate. In any case, the delay was all it took for the Ravenclaw to lift his chin and meet Tom’s eyes.
This Ravenclaw, Tom realized, had eyes as blindingly green as the Killing Curse.

I want to say cabin, but cabins are for the woods, so I guess a beach house would be more accurate. But anyway, it’s Lydia, so you know the place is extra, and she wanted to go hang out for a while to get away from the usual Beacon Hills craziness so we’re all heading up there for the summer. I’m thinking three, four weeks. Maybe longer, depends on when people have jobs lined up and whatnot. We leave in the morning, and don’t forget to pack your swimsuit. Or do, whichever, I won’t complain.” Stiles waggled his eyebrows suggestively, but Derek ignored that. He felt like all the oxygen had been sucked out of the loft and he was finding it hard to breathe.
They were going to a beach house, and would be staying there for a month, and Derek was supposed to be okay with that? No. Absolutely not. He would spend the whole time upset and nostalgic for a life he’d lost due to his own stupidity as a child.
“I’m not going.”

He ended up doing a weird half-turn pirouette kind of move, lost his balance, tripped over a pair of pants and landed face-first onto his bed.
