The hell was Caesar thinking, giving the most disaster-prone man he knows a job in a place where things are both valuable and breakable?
Joseph goddamn Joestar has been trying his limited patience for the past few weeks.

When you close your eyes, you can still remember laying down to have it done. You remember those shimmering green eyes as they roamed over your body, committing its lines to memory and paper. You never spoke of those eyes, nor their owner, to anyone before. There is, of course, a first time for everything.

But when he asks you to accompany him on this journey, you can only imagine it’s because of ‘The Ship.’ You’d told him of it years ago, when he was a small child, precocious and eager to hear of the tales of his grandfather’s childhood. In spite of this, however, he’d never shown much interest in ‘The Ship’ in his adulthood, but you suppose it’s more or less because of his friend’s interest that compels him to ask you for assistance.
“Normally, I wouldn’t be coming to you for this,” he makes sure to tell you as he carefully helps you down from the helicopter. Always like Jotaro, to make sure that he seems completely detached before meticulously attending to your safety. “But seeing as you were there, Kakyoin would greatly appreciate it if you could tell us everything about her.”
“Her,” you mumble. As if ‘The Ship’ were a living thing. If it was, it was certainly a failure at living, having capsized on her damned maiden voyage. “Well, I suppose I have little to do in my spare time nowadays, yes? Why not spend some talking to youngsters about one of the most traumatic times of my life?”

More blinking. More time to register. There was a lot of green, but maybe it was a face.
“Welcome to the Daily Grind. What can I get for you today?”
“Um, buddy, my eyes are up here.”
Caesar was a tall guy. Like, annoyingly tall. Sometimes-he-hit-his-head-on-doorframes tall. But Caesar had to actually tilt his head up to look this guy square in the eye. He was a basketball player. He had to be. What else could he be doing with all that height?
In a moment of horror, Caesar realized he had been talking directly into this customer’s chest.
“You’ve got quite a pair of pecs,” Caesar heard himself say.

He steels himself and he can barely hear his own voice over the loud, rushing static in his head. “And what about Jojo?”
She flicks her eyes away and he knows, he knows right then and there, and he tries not to vomit or read too much into such a small gesture, but she isn't leaping at the opportunity to tell him Joseph’s fine. He can only handle a few seconds of silence before he's speaking again, the fear disrupting his tone and becoming all too apparent despite the force he puts behind it.
“Maestra, what about Jojo?”

In the years before America enters the second world war, a love for the ages is threatened not only by homophobic bigotry, but also by the star-crossed lovers' enemy nations. How can Caesar possibly stay with Joseph when a visa is an impossibility, and war might erupt any day? In spite of the risks, Joseph has a solution.
