Summary
Keith accidentally winds up in his future self’s body, who he then has to pretend to actually be because apparently the future is full of clones who will say or do anything to trick Team Voltron. In the future, anyone acting out of the ordinary is a suspect, and Keith can't afford to get his future-self killed by being incompetent. This is only made harder by the fact that he has to pretend to know what it’s like to be a boyfriend, because in the future, he and Lance are dating.
“I’m sorry,” Lance said gently. Keith could feel his words as much as he heard them, Lance’s warm breaths escaping against his lips. “I know you’re better, and I know you don’t like me worrying over you. I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay,” Keith rushed to assure him. Play along, play along, play along. “I know you were just scared,” he guessed. “But you don’t have to be anymore.”
Lance sighed a long, drawn out sigh. “I know,” he said. And then, “I love you.”
Keith’s brain short-circuited. Oh, he thought. And then Lance’s lips were on his, warm and soft.

Lance is getting his big American debut on a new T.V series called Voltron. He's excited and nervous about how amazingly talented and famous his cast members are. But most importantly Lance is anticipating meeting his character -Leandro's- love interest in the show. Who happens to played by the be mega famous, mega hot Keith Kogane.
But due to a misunderstanding during their first encounter, Lance now thinks Keith is the biggest jerk alive.
Keith now has to try and fix it, for the sake of the show, and also for the sake of their on screen romance, which may start venture off screen as well.

Wow. I have never cried so many times at multiple chapters of a fic. This so beautifully portrays family and love and persistence. Coming from a hispanic family I really, really felt at home in this one, even if its a home I'll never have. Fear and love and blame and never needing forgiveness. I loved sm.

And Lance knows it’s his fault. He started it, after all, but at least the biting term of endearment made sense when he was the one doing it. Keith had been talking to him like they were some old married couple. The kind who’ve been married too long and don’t love each other anymore and gripe over meaningless shit, only managing to piss each other off even further.
That’s why Lance called him dear. Because it made sense in the situation. It was a calculated insult. A strategic jab.
Keith, on the other hand, is weaponizing the term of endearment without any rhyme or reason, simply to get back at Lance.
Or: Keith and Lance have gotten into the habit of using pet names as condescending insults. They're not really terms of endearment.
