Summary
Strange things happen on the day of Martin's mother's funeral. The funeral itself is paid for in full, right down to the coffin and the plot. The people who attend it are strangers to him. When he goes wandering deeper into the cemetery, he meets a strange man with an even stranger dog.
Unfortunately, there is more to his mother's anonymous benefactor than Martin realizes. Fortunately, there's more to the man and the dog, as well.

“And?” Jon says. “Not to sound insensitive, but,” he gestures around them to the whole of the rundown room, “we aren’t exactly in the best of neighborhoods.”
“The point,” Tim retorts, “is that all of them had recently purchased a taxidermied animal. All from that shop.” He leans back onto his heels, pushing his hands into his knees. “I’ve been staking out the place for two days now, and it— well. Just.”
“Just what?”
“Just watch.”Jon, Martin, and Tim investigate a taxidermy shop. It only gets worse from there.

“That’d be because you’re dressed like you’re attending a funeral,” Martin retorts — god, Gerry is rubbing off on him in the worst of ways, “and to be quite honest, your people skills are rather lackluster.”
“I’m in uniform,” Jon argues, “and it’s not my fault that most ‘people’ we deal with are dreadful things of the night.”
Martin can’t help the smirk that crosses his face. “Well, lucky for you,” he says, “I have lots of practice dealing with one of those.”In the grand scheme of things, going to fetch a...a skin book for the Institute isn't the weirdest assignment they've been on.

“Wait, where’s my other daddy?” Aamal turns to Jon, and he’s struck by the worst urge to look away. “Will he be back soon?”
Jon meets her hopeful eyes, and for the first time in years, actually feels the wound yawning wide in his chest, deeper and bloodier than the scar through his heart ever was.
“No,” he says, very softly. Aamal’s face falls, her brows drawn in question. Jon can’t look at her. He stares at his good hand, knuckles yellowed by his grip on the edge of the counter. “He, uh.” He swallows. It goes down like rocks. “He’s not coming back.”
“Why?” Her voice skews high, pinched with a note of anger. Unbidden, Jon chokes out a small, miserable laugh. She sounds just like Martin.
“Because,” he says, raw, both hands shaking now, “I messed up very, very badly.”
Or,On the eve of the Unknowing, Jon and Martin found comfort in each others’ arms. Ten years later, the daughter they left behind finds them Somewhere Else.

“How about this - I get changed and start on tea, you open the tests, and then I’ll come back and we can wait together. We’ll even stay in the bath if you want.”
Jon stays quiet and rests his ear against Martin’s chest. They need to know. He doesn’t want to.
Martin breathes evenly. His body is soft with fat beneath Jon, and solid with muscle beneath that, and it’s all wrapped around a heart that beats strong and steady and sure. This is a good body, Jon thinks. A good body with a good man in it.
Jon climbs out of the tub and offers a hand to balance Martin when he follows.
He opens the boxes.
They wait together.
(in which the lads do a tiny time travel, have a baby, make a home, have another baby, and get their happy ending)

Jon’s mouth twisted into even more of a frown. He slid his hands over Martin’s shoulders, resting softly on his collarbones. “I appreciate that, but that’s not what’s going on here. I just–”
He slumped a bit into Martin, his hands coming to cup the base of his neck, playing with the ends of his hair.
“I feel… very close to you right now.”
Martin gave a soft snort. “Well, yeah, you’re in my lap.”

Summary
It was a very neat arrangement; the kings of the Continent and the Witchers of Kaer Morhen had a set agreement that they wouldn’t be at each others’ throats in the coming years, and Alfred Pankratz got rid of his eldest son and heir-apparent. The latter could have been seen as a great loss. It was seen as a great loss by anyone who didn’t know the truth, which just happened to be most of the Continent. Only a select few knew why the Viscount de Lettenhove was so eager to get rid of his eldest, and only, son.
Jaskier is settled into his new life in Kaer Morhen, married to the feared White Wolf, Geralt of Rivia, and an unexpected gift is presented to the couple in the first few months of their marriage.

No, much more noticeable than the potion toxicity – a look Jaskier is fairly used to, by this point, really – is the stench of rut.
Geralt goes into rut unexpectedly. Jaskier obviously isn't about to let him suffer that alone, consequences or no consequences.
