Minho doesn’t know what he’s expecting, and he wonders who Jisung’s talking to in his mind. Part of him thinks there might not even be an answer, but he’s too curious to really care about the specifics.

“I purred today.” Jeongin cuts him off, Chan stares at him wide-eyed.
“Really?” Jeongin nods, “I haven't heard you purr, since… I don’t think I’ve ever heard you purr.”
“I purred once, when I was fifteen, hyung. A decade ago.”
Chan sucks his teeth a bit, “Damn, Innie, you’ve got it bad.”
“I purred because I gave him a tape dispenser, and he used it.”
Chan just looked at him for a moment, “It sounds like your fox wants to court him, or subdue him, or something. You’re happy that you’re providing for him, at least, on a subconscious level.” Jeongin cringes, because that’s exactly what was going through his head when he gave Seungmin the tape.

"Guys, just drop it– my birthday doesn't mean anything to me." He sighs, shoulders dropping down with the movement. "Seriously. Just having you all here is amazing enough."
They drop it only because he asks and no one can deny Jeongin, but Seungmin is not gonna let this go.
He'll make sure Yang Jeongin's first birthday celebration will be the best thing that's ever happened to him.

Changbin takes the binoculars and follows his friend’s finger to a slim, tall guy and does a double take. He looks devilishly handsome, enough that Changbin is suddenly jealous that Jisung found him first.
Changbin swallows hard. “Number twenty-two is the guy you’ve been falling over yourself for?”
Jisung scoffs, and Changbin instantly relaxes. “God no, that’s just Seungmin. Minho is number twenty-five. Keep up, hyung.”
Changbin does not care for Minho. Especially not when number twenty-two (Seungmin, he has filed away in his brain for later), is flashing a grin that makes Changbin think that if he were standing, it would bring him to his knees.

It's the epitome of luxury, wealth, and relaxation, employing only the best to serve its treasured guests--from waitstaff to lifeguards to administrative services. They even have a complementary daycare program. The on-island staff have been noted as attentive and friendly, though sometimes a little bit too friendly (with each other).
Seclusion. Boredom. And a bunch of beautiful people in paradise.

"F-fuck." He groans out as the thumping drowns out any other noise that might have seeped through the walls. The pain is horrible, but it will pass. It always does. The tears begin to fall silently as he rocks back and forth in the bed, trying to dull it—help it.
Seungmin wasn't always like this. These constant drops didn't happen. He knows what could fix it. He knows that this pain is a choice that he willingly put himself into. It keeps him safe. It is his protection.
He was classified as a sub at the age of 20. Subs have a need to be put into a headspace, usually referred to as subspace, somewhat regularly to keep these drops from happening. To keep them healthy. Seungmin now chooses not to be put into subspace. Not anymore.
If he were allowing a dom to put him in subspace, he wouldn't have to deal with this pain, but this is pain he has control over. He is inflicting this on himself. He knows what to expect. He knows what it does to him. He would rather this control than that fear.

Summary
Seungmin still remembers that day very well, he still remembers the gleeful hoots and hollers from the crowd of audience down below, how the yellow light blinked and flickered with a row of white. How Jeongin’s face glimmered against each bright light.
Obviously, despite the annoying cold, Seungmin still had his beautiful little moment for himself. Reality hit him like a brick that was joyfully kissed and carefully tossed when he realised that Yang Jeongin, the boy whom he loved since middle school and dated since high, was proposing to him, it wasn’t one of their silly little jokes, not a prank that they always did. This was real. Seungmin choked on happy sobs as he said yes, his nose was so full of joy and negative temperature that it came out muffled.
Jeongin stood up instantly once he heard the one syllable word, the only word he needed to hear. He quickly closed the cover of the ring box and kept it into his pocket as he closed the gap between him and Seungmin.

“Hello?” Minho says, because it doesn’t seem like the guy on the other side of the doorway is going to speak first.
“Um, is... does Bang Chan still live here? Or Seo Changbin?” he asks, quietly, nervously.
“Yeah, Chan's my roommate,” Minho replies, unsure where this is going.
“Is... is he here?” The guy asks, frowning now, eyebrows knitted together. He seems... jittery. Like he could turn around and run off at any moment.
“Yeah, do you want me to get him?” Minho asks.
The man blinks a few times, then looks over his shoulder like he really is considering making a break for it, then turns back to Minho with his mouth pressed together. He nods, a short jerk of the head, “Yeah,” he breathes, “I’m, uh, I’m his brother.”
That gives Minho pause. “Brother?” he echoes. He can’t recall Chan ever mentioning having a brother.
The guy- Chan's brother??- doesn’t seem caught off guard by Minho's confusion at all. “Yeah. I’m Jisung,” is all he says.
Minho hasn’t heard Chan mention the name Jisung before either.

After some research, they found out that this might be because of finding one’s soulmate. Not everyone in the world possessed one—most didn’t—but it wasn’t an unknown phenomenon. Although it wasn’t scientifically proven, it occurred frequently enough throughout history and in modern times for people to believe in it.
Hyunjin had wondered then—since his scent was also out of the ordinary—was it possible he was also fated to encounter his perfect match someday? Was that why the records he read mentioned that the scent of each pair always complemented each other—unique alone, but harmonious together?

Hyunjin meets the new employee of his favorite greengrocer while shopping for fruit. Then he proceeds to spiral when he can't recreate his scent.
