-It was surprising how much he enjoyed watching Shang Qinghua eat. How much he enjoyed watching Shang Qinghua in general. Mobei-jun had known himself to be friendless in the Demon Realm, but that had been nothing compared to the vertiginous oblivion his circumstances had plunged him into. He had begun to doubt that this blurry grey world was real after all. He had felt himself start to dissolve into grey blurriness too. Shang Qinghua, with his near-constant panic, his clumsiness, his noisy stomach, his babbling—Shang Qinghua was inarguably real. In the proximity of such a person, Mobei-jun felt real again in turn.
Another thing he would not know how to express.
-Shang Qinghua hadn’t expected to feel anything but terrified horniness for his boss. And Mo Beijun just assuming Shang Qinghua was at his complete disposal could have been insulting, or infuriating. But the fact that he was taking all his cues from Shang Qinghua… It was actually kind of… endearing.
Was it weird to feel so protective over a man so powerful?
Even if that was just the result of hopeless spoiling, Mo Beijun clearly needed a lot of help. And to be in a position to help him was intoxicating. Shang Qinghua wanted to answer all of his questions perfectly forever, so he would never have to feel as uncertain and guarded as he looked sometimes.
-Mo Beijun gestured at him to stop. “The decision is out of my hands.” He studied Shang Qinghua’s face. “But if Shang Qinghua really wants to come with me… I will ask.”
“You will?” Shang Qinghua sat up straighter. “So, you… you’d want me to come?”
Mo Beijun stayed silent for another moment.
“…Yes,” he finally said, quietly.
“Oh,” Shang Qinghua breathed. “Oh, okay. Cool.” He couldn’t think of a casual way to tell Mo Beijun nobody had ever wanted him around for anything. So he just repeated, “Cool.”
-A second ago, the feeling of absolute power had felt like wine. Now it was sobering, as if, having ascended weightlessly to the heavens, he now looked down and saw how far he was from the ground. How far Shang Qinghua would have to fall, if he let him go. To own someone completely meant everything that happened to that person would be his fault. His responsibility.
This was, Mobei-jun thought, what it meant to be king.
“Is it good?” Shang Qinghua repeated desperately.
Mobei-jun leaned over him, driving himself even deeper, if that was possible, and said into his ear: “There is nothing better.”
Shang Qinghua went still.
“There is no treasure more precious,” Mobei-jun said, “than Shang Qinghua.” -

“You -!” Luo Binghe lunges for Shen Yuan, rubbing at Shen Yuan’s head and snapping his teeth next to his cheek as if barely resisting the urge to bite him properly.
11 After all, even if Luo Binghe is more dangerous with full access to all his demonic and cultivation abilities, he still could’ve done as he pleased to Shen Yuan with kitchen knives or whatever.
