They tell him he’s dying, that there is no cure or treatment, no options but to make him comfortable to try to treat the symptoms and pain, and then they keep him from his work for another week in the hospital. They have given him six months as the maximum, six months to get his affairs in order, six months to finish his life’s work.
Viktor wonders if it might be worth it to tell him, at least it’s unlikely the embarrassment will kill him before he drowns in his own blood. Only after a death sentence could he even consider it, but he also knows that Jayce might not come back at all if he were to tell him, that he might leave and that Viktor might not even be promised these final months with him.

Jayce would be making his excuses for the evening, maybe finishing his wine or wishing a friend who will leave early in the morning a farewell. Summary
The window of the drop ship is a nice touch. Expensive one too, which makes him wonder if it’s part of the game he’ll be playing. It’s enough to make him focus, map potential routes, and jolt some life into his old bones. He takes note of the planet’s three continents; even manages to locate the three main cities the planet boasts of. Of course there must be other settlements, but it’s a new world and his eyes can only focus on so much at once. Ordinarily he’d just accept sit back and accept his fate, but this new master has been kind. He can make it fun for the newly crowned King Jayce of Lamia.
Viktor's had a long, illustrious 'career' as a personal pet, and has seen more of the settled galaxy than most other people. When his previous master dies leaving no heir, it's understandable that it's time for his long overdue decommission. What isn't understandable, is why the new King of a backwater planet would take such a personal interest in seeing it done.

Summary
This wasn’t how Jayce had imagined it would happen.
In his moments of weakness, late at night, with sleep eluding him and desire pooling in his lower abdomen, he had allowed himself to picture something quite different from this. His mind conjured up scenarios in which they both stumbled into bed, clothes tugged off their bodies, as they laughed between hungry kisses. He had imagined Viktor, flushed and happy, reaching for him with the same feverish lust and need that Jayce felt.
He never imagined him like this.
Viktor sat on the bed, looking incredibly small. His head was bowed in shame, his hair obscuring his eyes. His graceful hands were resting together on his lap, his fingers clasped in supplication. He was trembling, and Jayce didn’t know if it was from nerves or pain—or a terrible combination of both. Jayce wanted to wrap his arms around him and promise that everything would be okay.
That he would fix everything.
That he would save him.
When stigmata blooms across Viktor’s body, Jayce knows he’ll do anything to save him. Even if it means ripping the holiness out of him with his own bare hands.
