Taking a cigarette, he steps out to the living room. All this empty, spotless space is now theirs. Not a single busted floorboard or destroyed drywall. All hinges are intact, the door is locked, and they’re…safe.
This isn’t home. It’s too good to be home.

Summary
“Mick, hey,” Ian reaches out, palm gently but firmly tapping Mickey on the cheek to get him to look up. The death glare he receives—which is wrongfully targeted towards him, but whatever—is enough to send a wave of relief through him. By the looks of it, Mickey’s powering through using the full force of his wrath rather than what’s left of the blood in his veins.
So, the usual prison-Tuesday for them, then.
//
a s10 prison-era fic where Mickey gets injured and gets sent to the clinic just in time for Ian's shift.

Summary
The pill bottles rattle as he pulls the drawer open. He takes one out and unscrews it, spilling the tablets on his palm. He counts each and every one of them. He counts the days and the weeks and the numbers turn out to be right on all three bottles. Not one pill is out of place, because he took them. He swallowed them every morning and every night and there’s no way he’d forget even a single dose because he’s…
He’s better now.

And then Hollander became Shane. And then Ilya’s father died. And then Shane got a concussion at one of their fucking games and Ilya was terrified that his fucking teammate had turned Shane into a fucking vegetable. I love you, Ilya thought, but couldn’t say, in that moment, standing there on the ice. I love you, he thought, and maybe there has never been a moment where I haven’t loved you, not in all the years since my mouth met yours for the first time, and I hate myself for not telling you. I want to tell you this all the time. I want to be with you even though we cannot be together. I love you, and I cannot love you. I maybe love you more than I have ever loved anything else. This thought terrifies me. Because it means that we’re doomed. Because it means I might never return home to Russia, even though there is nothing to return to.

Summary
“Hollander? You are still here?” Rozanov called, breaking the TV static silence filling Shane’s head. He blinked.
“Uh. Yeah, just leaving,” he answered, surprised by how steady his voice sounded. Good, that was good. He knew he couldn’t show Rozanov any weakness if he wanted to keep coming back.
But did he want to come back if it made him feel like this?
“Door is too heavy? Or I fuck you too good, you cannot move legs,” came Rozanov’s taunting response. Shane could practically see the tilted smirk on his face, cigarette smoke wafting around his freshly-showered curls.
“Fuck off, Rozanov,” Shane muttered.

“I finally get to see you again, and it’s like I’m fucking nothing to you. I didn’t even get to look you in your face when you fucked me,” he spit. Ilya flinched. Good. “And then I try to talk to you but you won’t open up, you get angry. I’ve done something wrong again and you won’t tell me what. Then I’m out the door wondering what the fuck happened and when I’m gonna see you next because for some goddamn reason I still--”
Shane stopped. A wave of emotion constricted his throat, barring him from playing the one card he was still holding close to his chest. He felt himself start to shake.

Summary
“It was cruel,” Ilya murmurs, brushing the saltwater from Shane’s freckles with a careful thumb. “I was cruel. To both of us. And I’m sorry.”
Shane breathes with him for a moment, both of them trying to pull themselves together, before he grumbles, “I don’t even remember why I brought that up.”
“Because you want to be annoying in bed until I slap you,” Ilya reminds him patiently.
“Oh. Right.”

Bookmarker's Notes
Slowly, Ilya peeled Shane’s soft cotton shirt up and over his head, expecting to feel that usual all-encompassing need to pin him down and press in close. Instead, the sight of Shane’s angry, red, tender skin ground his movements to a halt. He was going to be covered in bruises by the morning, all over his ribs and shoulders. Ilya stepped back and cupped a hand over his mouth, trying to blink away tears that formed anyway.
“Hey,” Shane said softly, reaching for him. “I’m okay.”
