  4. Summary

What if forgetting’s not like that—instead, stampeding, panicked, just a ghost choir: of legends, and rumors, of the myths forged from memory—what’s true, and isn’t—
that we make of ourselves and, even worse, of others.
    - Carl Phillips, "ghost choir"

perfect times eleven but it's sad and pretentious and vaguely seventies

    Summary

An undeniable constant of humanity, through the thousands of years of written history and the tens of thousands unwritten before it: everybody's searching for something. Some for power, for glory, for conquest. Some for mercy, for salvation, for understanding. But we are all searching for something, and many will go to great and terrible lengths to find it.

The Fédération Internationale de l'Atterrissage is searching for a solution to the global phenomenon they're calling "Area X". The last wild places on Earth are slowly being subsumed by something untouchable and alien, a non-Euclidean mirror of our world that threatens to devour it whole. The members of Expedition 17, sent through the barrier by the FIA to investigate, are searching for things too. Fugitives, purpose, answers. Men with names, and feelings without.

We're all searching for something. But in that search, you may find more than you bargained for.

or; a fic loosely based on Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer (the novel, not the Natalie Portman movie adaptation)

    Summary

“Hey,” Piper whines, her thumb coming out of her mouth with a pop. “Let him c’mere.”

“No.” Saxon says flatly, one arm winding around Lochlan’s middle possessively. The baby squirms against him, striped t-shirt riding up to expose the strip of pale round belly above his shorts and pull-up. “You have plenty of baby dolls. This one’s mine.”
