When it comes to predatory, soul-sucking gacha games, Cosmic Impact Rail Zero was probably the worst of the worst. Did it have incredible characters? Yes. An engaging storyline? Double yes. Did it make Mydei want to blow his entire paycheck on weapons and skins and more rolls? Of course it did.
But it also killed off basically every character in the game, including the crown prince that shared Mydei's name– Mydeimos the Undying, Son of Gorgo. How the hell was that even possible?! He literally had undying in his title!?
So when the developers ask for feedback, Mydei goes off on a heated tangent– and finds himself reincarnated as his namesake. You know– the doomed prince, destined for a life of hardship? Destined to die?
Not if Mydei has anything to say about it.

The boy was sitting cross legged, bent over and seemingly stuck in a continuous cycle of growing flowers and then letting them wither with what they could only guess to be spiritual power. Mud and dirt caked the boy, but his features could still be seen. He was wearing dark emerald robes that would’ve looked like black in the shaded forest if it wasn’t for the ray of light breaking through the leaves to paint the boy in a shimmering gold. The boys long hair was flowing freely behind him back, the black locks lying limp behind him in his sitting position.
He grew a flower, the deep crimson color reminding Shen Jiu of blood. Then he continued to pour qi into the already bloomed bud, causing it to shrivel in on itself and die.
Then he grew the flower again. Then watched it die.
Again and again. Like he was waiting for something new to happen without changing his action.
“Who are you?” Fu Guiying asked hesitantly. The boy had yet to look up, showing no signs of recognition for the humans now standing beside him.
The boy looked up.
Green eyes that matched Shen Jiu’s own stared at him. The boys eyes looked dead. He looked haunted, like he had seen something he could never unsee.

His maneuvering of the plot leads to some unexpected results, however, and while he succeeds in getting the war ended early, his own fate is changed drastically.

Binghe just wants to go home. Mobei just wants to protect his home. These two goals are not aligned, until they are. This fic follows two timelines, Binghe's time in the demon realm in the north grappling with his past, and Shen Qingqiu three years later, trying to figure out whether or not his disciple is still alive. Circumstances mean that they can't reunite while their realms are still at odds. Will they figure out a way to see each other again, or will politics really be the death of them?
Reading Stucco Heart is strongly recommended.
