Kennedy did not think, after seventeen years, that he’d be back. After all the wallowing, all the longing glances out of his childhood bedroom window to a starless sky, he didn’t think he would stand in front of an old, dilapidated farmhouse, acres upon acres of land unused and lost to time. Yet here he was, exchanging pleasantries after being handed a set of rusty old keys from Mayor Lewis.

After the last near "tragedy" (or so the dwarves are calling it, Bilbo's about done with them), Bilbo doesn't cut his hair and instead lets it go long. Except now, now he's almost home, his dwarves insisting on escorting him back, and he's got long hair he doesn't know what to do with.
When Thorin offers to braid his hair, Bilbo reluctantly agrees, if just to have something to remember the dwarf by.
Except it doesn't do Thorin any favors. Bilbo was already attractive enough, and now there are braids. In his hair.
And if Fili and Kili don't stop snickering, Thorin's content to return to Erebor without his heirs.

Jack loved nineteen-seventies America. It wasn’t quite as wonderful as the sixties, but it still had much more sexual freedom than most of Jack’s years on Earth had seen combined! And Jack had been making a point of enjoying himself on this little excursion to visit the colonies for Torchwood. Still, even a liberal American in the seventies could not compare to the taste, smell, or feel of someone so close in time and space to Jack himself, and the man hovering on the edge of orgasm above him was everything Jack’s homesick body and soul needed at the moment.
