Porzuca rodzinę, która już od lat nie jest mu bliska, i wraz z końcem obowiązkowej edukacji wstępuje do wojska. Pracuje ze strażnikami, kiedy pojawia się taka konieczność, ale wcale nie zamierza związać się z którymś z nich na stałe. Kiedy w jego okręgu seryjny zabójca popełnia swoją kolejną zbrodnię, na miejscu zjawia się ekipa BAU, na której zgryźliwy szeryf i jego nieco nadpobudliwy partner robią co najmniej dziwne, żeby nie powiedzieć podejrzane, wrażenie.

Brock didn't want to be a bad guy. But when HYDRA slowly infiltrated SHIELD, Pierce noticed the promise in young Agent Brock Rumlow and took him "under his wing".
He used him as a toy, and Brock, desperate to survive, did whatever it was that Pierce wanted. Pierce made him into a monster, and then handed him the Winter Soldier to use as a tool to eliminate Director Fury and anyone else that stood in HYDRA's way.
