Oh my god. Oh my actual god, I loved every single second of reading this. I sent my best friend SO MANY passages from this yelling about how much I adore them and how funny the author is - I already started at the gosh tootin authors note with a "they get the vibe" to which it immediately agreed.

“No,” Seungkwan mutters. “But I’ve already cried about five things today and if I cry about this, you’ll think I’m unstable, and I really can’t handle that level of humiliation right now.”
Mingyu grins. “Alright. We’ll share.”

“Are you even listening to me?” Chan asks teasingly.
“Yes,” Jisung responds on autopilot. Chan raises his eyebrows, and it's all he needs to do for Jisung to confess: “No.”
Chan huffs. “Rude,” he says, faux-offended. The smile pulls even wider, wide enough to show off his dimples. An intrusive thought of dipping his tongue into them flashes through Jisung's mind before he manages to silence it. “What's got you so distracted, huh?” Jisung bites the inside of his cheek to stay quiet. He doesn't know how to respond in a sane, appropriate way. He's thinking so hard about what not to say that he must have mentally projected his illicit reasons straight into Chan's head. Everything seems to be moving in slow motion as Jisung watches Chan's eyes drop to Jisung's lap. Jisung is wearing his favorite comfortable grey sweatpants because all of his other clothes had felt like a sensory nightmare today, which unfortunately also means that it's obvious. It's so obvious. Chan's lips part on a surprised gasp.

“Okay,” Juyeon says, “I’ll stay with you while you eat.”
It’s a sweet gesture, and Eric wants to spend time with Juyeon too— he missed Juyeon as much as Juyeon missed him— but he can see the way Juyeon’s eyes droop, the way his shoulders slouch like they’re holding the weight of the world. “You don’t have to,” he says, frowning. He presses a kiss to the corner of Juyeon’s mouth and adds, “I was just gonna shower really quick, then eat and go to bed. It won’t be long.”
Juyeon’s hand bumps against Eric’s, before gently grasping it. “I’ll stay with you while you shower, too.”
Eric laughs. “Then it won’t be quick at all,” he says, but Juyeon is already tugging him out of the room.

“Good boy,” Chan says without thinking, and when he looks back on this interaction later, he will be able to pinpoint this as the exact moment where he first fucked up. Next to him, he hears Jisung breathing in sharply, and Chan grimaces. Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck. He manages a shaky laugh. “Better than me, at least. I can't quite seem to kick the nicotine addiction.” It's not the only addiction he has trouble getting over, either, and that is exactly the problem.

Jeongin’s vision is suddenly filled with Minho, Minho’s glazed eyes, Minho’s flush down his neck, Minho Minho Minho. Minho who clumsily squeezes his cheeks, cooing when Jeongin splutters as he’s forced into a pout. “Cutie Innie. Innie darling,” he says seriously, utterly unprompted. “Look at you.”
“You are so drunk,” Jeongin laughs, words jumbling in his squished mouth. He bats at Minho’s hands, long fingers eclipsing his wrist. “Hyung-” Minho makes a disgruntled sound, leaning in and up to plant a kiss on his forcefully puckered lips. His hand is in the way but he doesn’t have the forethought to move it, simply choosing to struggle.

Summary
As a consequence of spending his entire trainee period and most of his rookie career on blockers without pause, Chan’s heat can be a little unpredictable. There’s no real rhyme or reason as to when it comes or its severity, but it’s not like there will ever be a time that it isn’t inconvenient for it to happen considering their schedules. As long as it occurs at least twice a year as is expected, Chan is happy to grin and bear it. He’s lucky in the grand scheme of things.
Besides, he’s never blindsided too hard. He has a built-in early warning system down the hall.

This was a more lighthearted read, which I think I need in between the heavier ones. I adore the format of this fic, and how incredibly safe it felt to read. Although there is lots of uncertainty for both Jisu and Minhee, it never feels too heavy and I love the way it was written. The smut was spot on too, chefs kiss 🙂↕️

Oh gosh, this story inspired me to start writing my own, finally, one I've put off for the longest time because of fear of it not being enough. Somehow, this fic broke through some of that fear, and though our paths are wildly different, I think reading about someone I adore so deeply overcome their own hurdles and get back to what they know to be right for them made me feel supported and safe to do the same. I feel like that says more about how deeply this story touched me than any other feedback I could offer. I hope so.
I feel so lucky to be in the same fandoms as some of the most brilliant authors I've ever encountered, wow.
